google it:
theres a better one that has a clear table and shows you the difference in compression, bore, stroke etc. im sure someone else will post it.
its probley a common post but can anyone list all the different types of 4a*** engines with models & specs?? i know there is 16v 20v silvertop blacktops .etc
but how many are there and what is the difference? im not exactly sure what is what.
any info would be awesome
cheers

search google 'bill sherwood 4age' or 'phil bradshaw 4age'.
All you will ever need to know to do with 4AGE.
but a quick overview.
- Rare and very early big port TVIS 16 valve, with black lettering & 6-bolts holding the flywheel on.(basically a 4AC with 4ag head and pistons to suit)
- Big port TVIS RWD and FWD, 16 valve, blue letters on the cam covers, 40mm crank, 18mm gudgeon pin. 8 bolt 200mm flywheel.(most commonly seen engine, most AE82 and AE86) 9.5 comp?????(correct if wrong)
- Big port TVIS FWD only, 16 valve, with red lettering. They have a seven-rib block, no oil squirters, 42mm crank, 18mm gudgeon pin. (AE82)
- Small port non-TVIS FWD only, oil squirters, 10.3 comp ratio, 42mm crank 20mm gudgeon pin..(212mm flywheel) strong, but heavy rods.
- Silvertop 20 valve. minor changes in VVT operation between earlier/later models, same rods and crank as late model GZE(strongest) 10.5 compression?. (212mm flywheel?)
- Blacktop 20 valve, lighter internals compared to ST for revability, larger throttlebodies, smarter VVT. 11.0 compression.(212mm flywheel?)
- Early model supercharged 4AGZE, low compression(8.0?) big port head, dizzy(225mm flywheel)
- next model supercharged 4AGZE, big port head, higher compression, CAS Ignition(225mm flywheel)
- Late model supercharged 4AGZE, high compression(8.9?) small port head, CAS ignition.(225mm flywheel)
anyway, that should cover the basic development of the 4age
here you go:
I had to edit a shitload of it because there sure was some bullshit in there
