hey mate im using the same kit but i think there was some mistake in translation cause mine clears the steering rack but i got other problems im hoping to sort out soon. try liftig the gearbox wit a jack and you kinda got to push and wiggle it in if that makes sense. once mine was in i was clear all round just`mottor sites to high to close the bonnet for mine i had like 3 mates helping it takes a bit but it will get in also dont forget to hammer the start of the tunnel to allow more clearance for the box and bell housing ps my spelling is shit i know

yer fozz's one seems very dodgy - no props to kaizen there... i pulled the motor out of his car and there is heaps ground away from both the sump and side of the block. the engine mount brackets are pathetic to say the least, the welds look like a 3 year old done them. yer i dont think his tunnel is modified in any way as the motor sits lower as there are spacers between the x-member and chassis rails. good luck with it fozz!

yeah i was thinking of doing the spacers on mine to get it to cleat the bonnet but im worried the controll arms wont have enough movement up i was also considering moding the 180 x member and using that i think it may be the go as on each side only 3 holes line up to the motor I would love to get the number of the owner of the purple 86 to see what he did to follow his lead. if any one has done a modified x member of a s13 or 180 pleas PLEAS pm me and explain cause i am thinking of following that rout.

with ours we made our own mounts, but there is not alot of room around the steering rack and tunnel. just move your gearbox around while pushing the motor back,

or what we did that we found is even easier. drop the crossmember out from under the car and then lift the shell. then do the reverse to put it back in

give us a yell if u want a hand nathan

what kit are you talking about? to my knowledge there isnt one. ant has done a few SR conversions over the years but... the problem with doing a kit, is that there is a compromise between engine position, and the amount of mods you are willing to make to the tunnel ect.. what people are willing/un willing to do to/in these areas always varies, making it hard to do a kit.

im pretty sure fozz' set up isnt even kaizen. if im thinking of the right car, its liams car, and i wouldnt be surprised if he did the welding himself, as they (him and ant) were partners at that stage. about 10 years ago. either way, that car was done on the cheap, ie thrown together, as liam wanted/ask for it.

to call a sponsor out on it when you have no idea of the facts its a bit fucking rich dude.. i can think dogdier things.. like taking a $100 motor, $50 turbo and mani, cleaning and bolting it together, and selling it for $600.. ringing any bells?

*urban_ninja* if youre talking about bretts car.. well his engine is very low and far back, made possible by a lot of fire wall re shaping.

spacers arent gonna have the effects you talk about either, but they will mess up you roll center. spacing the x member is ok.. but i would do more than 15mm at the very most.

yeah im talking about bretts one it sooo porn. i am happy with how far back mine is that no prob just the hight im just wanting the engine a bit lower as it is quight high and i cant close my bonnet. im happy with the kit just wanting some advice on how to get the engine lower up front as shortening the rubber mounts will only cause problems so atm im stuck till i get ahode of ant. so far Kaizen have been grate im just after a lower sitting set up was considering moding the xmember but im not over keen on that as it is quight high in problems popping up.

i wasnt singling you out man i was talking to your mate.

kaizen hasnt been around for 6 years so..

that said ant has, but its all kinda irrelevant anyway. if you (as the current owner) werent the one who paid the shop to do the work, then it really has nothing much to do with ant anymore, or whoever did the work. more a case of buyer beware.

if you take some pics, i can make suggestions. if the car is using sr mounts, then they do collapse, and may need replacing. this may be the problem. if its the generic black straight ones ant sometimes uses, then there are 2 versions of those, one being slightly longer. this may solve your problem.

rack clearence is always a problem though.

have you trimed down the rack/ rack bracket? that always needs doing with an sr.. maybe either of these have been replaced at some stage or are not the ones that were with the car when the conversion was done originally.

grinding the block is no problem though.. it is REALLY thick..

I got the generick flat black ones from ant and i think i may have the longer ones could this cause the engine to sit higher/ TO HIGH at the front like the bonnet wont close with the engine in. i have no rack clearance issues at all thats a pluss.
