Did a bit of shopping yesterday - burwood highway trip!

    1. Clark rubber - picked up stuff to do light gaskets

    2. Knox Carpets - rocked up, said "hey, I need some carpet for and AE86" "Yep, which colour?" "Uhmm, that dark grey loop pile will be perfect" "Okay. It'll be done in 10 minutes" - service was great!

    3. Jaycar - Got four 4" speakers. 2 for the front of the car under the dash, 2 for the small rear parcel shelves.

    4. Clive cams - checked in to see if they were ready - not quite but should be done tomorrow.

    5. Supercheap to pick up vinyl paint/dye to finish the interior bits.

    6. eBay and ordered some new locks. Went with the Solex Twin Cam series 9. I don't believe they'll make the car more secure, but I needed locks and these were cheaper than Toyota ones and will do the job. Plus, they say "twin cam" for the wank factor (y)

Fitted my door locks today - pretty straight forward.

Honestly don't think Solex are more or less secure than a standard lock. Pretty well the same judging by it all.
But hey, cheaper than others and are new and shiny.

Also picked up a Peugeot 205 GTI for a mate today. Took it for a solid drive out through Eltham/Research area, twisties and dirt roads. Not bad for the "original" hot hatch.

Was running Yokohama C-drives. To begin with it was on 20psi all round. Stopped by a servo, pumped them all up to 38psi and it was a completely different car. Really unique steering feel. Pretty direct, but kind of fights you to begin with, then once you really get into the corner it agrees with you and whips around. Very torquey 1.9L engine.

Clutch was really, really hard and took up almost completely to the floor. Not sure if it's that car or the model in general, but that was a let down for me to the driving experience. You do get used to it though - guess I'm just used to Corollas.

My girlfriend reckons it looks like a Barina, haha.

Anyway, that was a bit of non-toyota fun!

To carb, or not to carb, that is the question—
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Screws and Jets of Carb Tuning,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To EFI, to weep—

The Heart-throb, and the thousand humming sounds
That Carb is heir to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To EFI, to weep,
To weep, perchance to EFI; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that weep of EFI, what reliability may come,

I'm having a hard time deciding. Because I have full RWD setup for EFI and a full smallport carb setup as well (minus ignition/timing stuff)

The baby's home today! Away from over-spray and dust and in the garage.

No time to waste! I've started fitting the dash today.

And whoever did the stereo wiring previously is a bell-end. they've used the weirdest connections and set it up in the strangest way. The wires don't make any sense whatsoever.

Fitted the stereo into the console. Originally had a Toyota one, but it was a bit wide and I didn't want to cut any more out of this. It's a 2013 Triton radio I got for free out of a car they wrecked at Dad's work. Bluetooth (mobile phone compatible), front AUX, USB - more features than my daily's! Didn't do that on purpose haha considering I'm only going with 4' front and rear speakers.

It's an alright fit, not the greatest - but I've seen much worse. Maybe thinking a rubber strip around it instead of the plastic frame.
