Still plenty of time in it! The engine will be slow for me!
Haha. Still waiting on my mate to post that head down off you. I guess I'll see when I comes, but I forgot to ask if it includes the cam journal caps. I really, really hope it does/you have them somewhere.

And yep, like that. Except probably with a cutout for the bonnet latch haha.

Is it just like 2mm aluminium? I have some here, but probably not enough to do one of those plates

So I finally got around to doing something I've been looking forward to doing... Painting my valve/cam covers.
I've seen a few pics of textured ones on the internet, but never anything in the flesh.

I used VHT wrinkle plus. Apparently it's easy to get wildly varying finishes, and following the instructions is pretty strict.
Might put up a guide in the tech section
Sorry, no pics of the painting/sanding phase.

Here's a close up of the texture. It's not spotted - kind of reminds me of an Aboriginal painting, lol.

Looks great dude might do these to my cam covers for the 86. Currently red and thinking of doing a blue with that texture

Only comes in red or black But I'm fairly certain you could paint it in one of those colours, then shoot a coat of blue over the top.

Hmm might have to give that a try then. Whats the worst that can happen if it stuffs up just strip it back and go again.

Started to think about fitting in some carpet today.
Unfortunately my car never came with carpet, so I have no pattern to work from.

Front section - this is pretty loose fitting around the tunnel.

It's a little loose fitting, so I'm adding some underfelt. I've done some Googling, and I can't see if ae86 came with underfelt or not?
The fitting instructions that came with the carpet say to follow factory underfelt pattern, as they're moulded with underfelt in mind.

Also, here's a pic of the mess of wiring. You can see a weird joining thing to the bottom right.
I'll have to look through some wiring diagrams.

Knox auto carpet? And yes ae86 came with felt underneath. It's only on the flat sections of the floor plan ie in the footwells.

They usually need something to weigh them down for a bit so they settle nicely. A heat gun with some bricks on it will help.
4agte finally finished. 252rwkw with more to come
