Wow, been ages since I've updated anything here!

    MR2:

Been driving and enjoying for a while, now in a few pieces fixing up the bad paint and stuff.
Did new plugs and leads, dizzy cap and seal, oil, earth wire, battery, full bushing kit. It's running and driving a lot nicer now. Changed oil, horrible!

Dash is mostly in now, left as is to connect clutch/accelerator pedal and stuff. Radio looks neat and not too out of place

And how damn awesome is it owning a hatchback?
Fit two complete doors (for spare parts) in it! Amazing.

I ported my head and dropped it off, engine still in the works. I was slack in that department getting parts to the builder - he didn't care as always has other work too.

    Interior is nearing completion.
Fitting up the rear sets to get the carpet in right.
Undecided what I want to do with the seats - fabric dye leaves them a little crusty and doesn't cover completely.

Doors completely together. Swapped the glass out of my spares as it wasn't scratched up as much.
Pretty happy with the black on black look actually - it was initially just a band-aid solution.

Going to chat to a tuner tomorrow about carb selection/fuel/ignition.
Would prefer to be using components that the tuner favours and knows.

Then gotta sort something out for the water system. It's almost all still FWD. But I reckon it won't be hard to adapt and run it with slight modification.

    Getting excited.

MR2 is also pretty much finished

It's taken me three days, but I've just read this entire build.

Really great work Jarrad. Often we see owners with different skill sets / access to various tools, but seeing this progress within reach of a panel shop is cool. The attention to detail regarding the interior is a very good reference for us all. And the various techniques used on the body work is awesome.

Love the MR2 and I'm very jealous of your visit to see one of the convertible 2000GT's...! I'm such a mad keen Toyota fan.

By the way, that JAPLAND video was bullshit! Loved it. A really well put together short film about cars is always a great inspiration.

Thanks for this build thread (nice amount of updates & progress) and keep on chipping away. That motor will be in / you'll be driving it before you know it. (great wrinkle finish on the cam covers, totes doin' it!)

Wow! I just went back through the thread.
How anyone has the patience is beyond me!

But, thank you very much Means a lot to know you might inspire or motivate someone.
Sometimes you wonder if anyone is even looking lol.

I keep this thread as a bit of a build log, that some people might find something interesting. Glad you did!

    No worries man.
Most of the time patience doesn't even come into it. We are all enthusiasts of the RWD Corolla and seeing a transformation of one done well is so captivating, you'll be subscribing or checking back regularly to get updates on the story.

Sometimes though, a poorly written series of posts can be enough to make the reader (me) just view it as images, as if to just skim the pages to get the gist of the story.

The fact you included some Shakespeare... genius.

We are all happy to see this little hachi in the right hands.

Now. Have you put that engine in yet?

    Thanks Slimer!
Did you know just buy looking, or have you had first hand experience with this setup?
So the Altezza 6SP is quite a short box, hence why they had to "extend" the bell housing (obviously it needed to bolt to 4A block too)...?

From what I remember from the video, the bell housing has been cut and shut with a 4ag one to bolt onto the black top.
Seamus did a cut and shut about 4 years ago on his 7a 20v before he swapped for the fa20 s2000 motor.
If you can find the build thread, I think he had a few photos of the cut and shut process.
