    Default AE71 Head-Unit Loom

Okay guys, pretty basic question but please help me out if possible.

Basically I got the car without a head unit and I want to install a basic one, so I went for a dig behind where the stock one would have been and found a whole bunch of looms back there. What am I actually looking for? how many wires?

If anyone has a pic of what the stereo loom on an AE71 or probably a KE70 looks like I would be very greatful.

    Cheers,

Do you want to use the standard speakers? Cos other wise you really don't need to bother finding the old loom! All you will need to find is accessories power, get your multimeter and find a wire that has power when acc is on and nothing when its off easiest would be cigarette lighter i think. And constant 12V, a wire straight from the battery with a fuse in it is what i usually do because i find that easier than crawling around under the dash trying to find lve wires. You put in your own negative cos its really easy and i suppose you would have to find the aerial lead though that shouldn't be hard!

So yeah just run your own speaker wires because then you don't have to find the old ones, the sound wil be better and a lot of older corollas use a common negative that is meant to blow the amps in new head units.

Look for all the cut wires?? or a open ended plug?

grab a meter and have a poke around,
basically there will be a +12V constant
a +12V ignition (will be 0 until you turn ignition on)

then 2 for each speaker, so maybe 6 wires all up? could also be an earth/neg wire aswel so 7

but yes, if someone just has a photo then that will give you all the colours to look for lol.

Okay that helps heaps guys, I think it's going to be easier to just run new wires my self, means I don't have to go rumaging around for 25 year old wires that may or may not blow my head unit . Didn't think of that to begin with! Thanks again!!! <3
