This is an oldie but from what I've already seen recommended in this thread you'll all enjoy: Jericho.

Ended a couple years back and is hands down my favourite tv show still.

Follows a mysterious protagonist who returns to his hometown just in time for a nuclear attack on America. Worth the watch.

Sopranos is an awesome show also.

I like docos on symbolism and ancient civilisations. Magical Egypt is a good spaced out think space of a documentary series. Discusses all the symbolism and the sacred geometry used in ancient Egypts' constructions. Discusses several popular and unpopular theories including that the sphinx pre dates the most recent ice age, making it part of a civilisation much older than first thought. It floats the idea that the last ice age ended the first great advanced civilisation in Europe and North Africa as the world weather went crazy and sea levels rose massively.

Also been into Freemasonry, Illuminati, and secret societies. Their art and symbolism is amazing and actually has a lot of crossover from more ancient times and each other. Freemasonry, for example almost seems like the first trade union to me. It glorifies the ancient stone workers tools and uses them in a symbolic reverence that fits their function both spiritually and practically as they were used in ancient times. If you think through history at the amount of slave labour that was used to construct all the worlds ancient temples and structures, you start to appreciate how it was a big thing to be a free mason. Now its all moved into a symbolic and theoretical rhetoric.

I also love documentaries on the wars, espionage, politics and history, and nature. Except national geographic documentaries as they are dimmed down about 50 levels from where I like them and are super repetitive with more artistic liberty than fact portrayed. History channel, BBC, or independent sources only.
