    Smile 86 Yota

    Aloha guys er, mates.

Just joined this forum to increase the odds of me finding parts to fix my little hachi. I always saw search results point back here but never got around to getting an account until now; that's what happens when you're on holiday vacation. As with first posts, here's an introduction to my project car. I bought this back in 2003 and had her ever since. Now, I'm in the midst of getting her prepared for autocrossing. If you have any tips on techniques and setup for road race, I'd love to chat.

Matt, the flares are CBY carbon replicas that I purchased from someone who had a shop fabricate it for him, fairly certain it was Battle Garage. He went a different route in regard to flares. The flares the front are 50mm wider, rear is 65mm. I just ordered wider wheels to fit the flares better.

Well, to be honest I am not completely sure what parts I need to fix it. There seems to be a lack of boost and I've already replaced the map sensor and fuel pump. I also verified operation of the electro-mag s/c clutch. It all seems in order so I'm thinking it's the ECU which somehow went defunct. Here's what the car sounds like at startup and at 5k blips. Could use some advice.

Hmmm sounds a bit rough on idle as well. OK not sure but would check the following before doing ecu

    1. Spark Plugs
    2. Airflow Sensor see if its in good nick

Not sure on ECU might be simpler if u swap out a aftermarket one rather then standard once gives more tuning options

I've actually replaced both those things quite recently. I used NGK Iridium spark plugs and replaced the MAP sensor with one from a 2JZGTE (Mk 4 Supra). Didn't seem to do the job though. I'm planning on getting an aftermarket ECU, probably a Megasquirt since the shop I frequent recommend using that with my setup. They said either that or Haltech but they speak more highly of Megasquirt.
