Time for an update! the front of the chassis was rusted through and bent so that got cut off and removed, replaced by a tube that I bent up.

    Removed that annoying seam:

Here you can see how much was removed to allow for 17"s this matches the largest section of the inner guard, will be running 17's all round.

Quick test fit with a mates 17x9.5 =12 rota aiming for something like the driftworks 86

Finally got it rolling for a while

    Made the main hoop boxes

Did the majority of the inner wheel arch, this will all be covered by the flares/kit

In other news I snapped up an s15 rear end for a good price with some adjustable arms and a whiteline swaybar to sweeten the deal, put the 4 stud hubs on it, acquired some skyline 5 bolt axles, bought a set of r33 rear calipers and discs and will get another set of calipers to run handbrake off, just on the hunt for a 5 bolt R200 diff now and some adjustable traction arms and that is a bulletproof rear done for less than 2k! Some of you may know the s15 has better geometry which makes for more grip than the s13 set up, this being the main reason to swap. Also I've been sussing out stronger gearboxes with an r154 being easiest to fit as I can get a bell housing to bolt it on, but these are hard to find for a decent price. So I have messaged a fellow from another forum who claims to know about a conversion plate to adapt a T56 to a W series bell and i can get a t56 for about $1500 very easily

Tri spokes make me cry every time

In an attempt to keep consumable costs down running an average 235/45 17 will provide more grip than the majority of even good 15 exemptions being semis ect which cost more, so I will be able to get a cheap tyre that works well, as well and gearing up the car at the same time which it needs.

I will not loose any lock either, going with lower profile federal RSR's that I picked up for about half price, if anything I will gain more lock as I was hitting on the front section of chassis rail which is now removed

    hahaha

I understand the functional need for 17s, it's logical and a necessity to stay competitive, but owning a corolla isn't meant to be logical haha
