    Wink 1986 AE86 Trueno Notch

    Hey guys,

Most of you guys may be familiar with this car. Been through couple owners.

Couple months back bought it off McLevin and drove it around Adelaide for a couple weeks.
Then decided to move to Sydney and drove it up here. 17hr drive without a problem. Just took it easy and stopped for fuel a few times.

So plans are to keep it looking clean, looking for a set of 15s so I can chuck some good tires on it.

I'm doing something different with this car. Drag Racing. So far I have run a 16.164 at 83mph. Thats with full interior and wheelspin.

There is an NA AE86 in japan that runs 12 flats. Im not saying that I will get anywhere near as quick but at least something to aim for.

    Current Specs:

    Interior:
    Nardi
    HKB Boss
    TRD Gearknob
    Fire Extinguisher

    Exterior:
    14x7 & 14x6.5 Watanabes
    raybrig front lights

    Susp/Brakes:
Shockworks coilovers all round 6kg front and 4kg
    Adj pahnard
    Arc front swaybar
    Xt130 lca's
Rda slotted & vented front rotors
    Rda slotted rear rotors
    Project Mu pads

    Engine:
Jasma headers to Janspeed over diff system.
    Air Filter
    Advanced timing
    Earthing kit.

Currently gathering parts to set it up for drag, looking for a set of 15s, might get some MT ET Street Radials. Not sure what width and offset wheels I should get for the rear
Have a Buddy Club spec 2 AE86 cat back straight through exhaust.
Looking for rear end options, currently the shockworks coilovers and springs are just too stiff, it just tramps off the line, need to get it to squat so thinking of chucking some stock springs in the rear and do a bit of test and tune.
Also getting a TRD wing to get a bit of down force but still keep it looking respectable.

    Here are some recent pics

    good stuff tally!

thats right on the money, i heard of some guys with a stock-ish 4age corolla getting a 15.8 with a good launch and wsid (but might of been a bit stripped)

    looking good man!

dont worry about a wing! doesnt need down force at 83mph haha

you can go pretty far in on the rear so dont be scared to go + offset and wide to get the full width

    Ok guys,

    Im wanting to make 160/170hp.

I been reading a bit and it seems that that is pretty much borderline before having to do the bottom end.

I have read I should be able to achieve that with 288 or above cams, some head work and an aftermarket computer.

Can someone give me some advice on cam choice and also computer choice.

Ok so ordered some 15x4 performance challenger front runners, should be here soon.

Thanks to Dave AJPS for a set of traction brackets.

Still on the hunt for a pair of 15x7s with + offset, cant seem to find anything. Would love a pair of SSR MK2s as they will sort of match with the challengers

Was thinking of going 4agte, from my research it seems 4agze block is best for big power turbo applications and either 4agze head or Blacktop 20v head, correcto?
Found out certain hilux diffs are 1410mm, same width as AE86 diff so just need mounts welded in correct position and will bolt in. But would need to work out brakes...
W58 is the go for gearbox but not sure if want to go down that path or even the diff conversion for that matter.

Might just stick to N/A and just make the car as light as possible but still street spec and see how fast I can go, seems most reasonable option at the moment considering its my daily lol....

since its your daily, i would leave it as is and just have fun with it

if you want to run drag times get a ke70 or something and put a large engine in it - tub it etc

the 15x4 will look cool but wont make any difference until you are in the 11s...

unless you get Daim Sheltons 310kw 20v turbo from tassie and put it in this with a w box (he has a bellhousing)

but this car is too nice to cut up in my opinion!

but it would be cool to see a 4a corolla running good times...just costs $$$$$$$$$

i really hope you dont strip this thing down and cut it up. its great to see it being used but it seems too clean to strip.
