GX81 Cresta

The Cresta decided to spit a coolant hose on me last week, which I thankfully noticed when I spotted a trail of coolant on the ground of the carpark at work. Poked around and found it was the worst positioned hose possible, being a 3" straight section that sits behind the head and sandwiched against the firewall. Great.


I spent a few hours cursing and removing the offending hose and tracked down some hose to replace it with since I didn't feel like spending $30 on the OEM replacement. I decided to replace a couple of other hoses on the exhaust side of the motor while I was at it as a preventative measure, given that the car is approaching 200,000km.


Not much else happening. Waiting on paint for the AVS VS6 and currently waiting to get some pricing on 215/45R17 for the other 6's. I'll be preparing for the timing belt and water pump replacement at 200,000km in a couple of months, probably helped along by tax return money. I'm looking at replacing the radiator while I'm at it, since the existing one has shown signs of leaks previously.

There's a bit of maintenance in the pipelines with the timing belt and water pump being due, as well as getting the SuperPro bushes for the rear arms installed and rebuilding the brake master cylinder.
