T series diff bearing and seal part numbers?

Hi guys...

i have picked up a T series diff but all the bearings have been removed, so i need all new bearings. I was hoping to just grab them from CBC etc and not fork out extra for genuine toyota, and was wondering if anyone had a list of part numbers for the bearings?

i don't as of yet know which axle type i have so if anyone has a listing of the parts for both axles it would be greatly appreciated....

so far all i have found is this... but no reference to which axle type?


Going through some old paperwork, and found some info people might find usefull.
For anyone doing a full diff rebuild, including new gears, bearing part numbers are as follows

OEM bearings (2 part numbers make one bearing, inner and outer halves)
Koyo M86649 RT-N, M86610-N (Front of Pinion shaft)
NSK HM88649, HM88610 (Rear of Pinion Shaft)
Koyo LM501310, LM501349(Carrier, need 2 sets)

CBC Sourced bearings are all Timken
Set 309 (Front of Pinion Shaft)
Set 67 (Rear of Pinion Shaft)
Set 45 (Carrier, need two of these)
Front oil seal, CBC Part Number M111

Retail prices at CBC for these are approximately $50 a set (eg, Carrier set or Pinion set) and another $10 for the seal, although trade prices are much better

I think all bearings and pinion seal for the final drive/diff assembly are the same for either early AE86 T series or late AE86 T series or TE71/TE72.

The only differences for the late and early T series stuff (change over at October 1985) is the axles themselves, and the diff sidegears, due to the different spline.

All the bearings and housings remain the same. But there is still the options of disk/drum and LSD/open diff across the range.


As for part numbers, why not just go to Burson or Repco and get them to order stuff for a car with T series diff. Such as TE72 T-18 SE for example.

You should be able to do this with almost every mechanical part you need.

ok sweet. forgive my ignorance (always been an aw11 man, so new to this realm). so both later and earlier axles are the same diameter where they meet the bearigs, just the spline is different? that's good to know. So if i approached repco a TE72 would be the car they woul have to look up to get a T series?

Jonny was saying that the diff carriers are th same, the difference is in the axles.

Early axles have smaller splines and potentially smaller bearing (Narrower).
Later axles have larger splines and potentially larger bearings (wider).

I have this case as I have a T-18 diff and a later ae86 disc brake diff at home.

ok cool thanks for the help thus far, just picked up all the bearings for the carrier etc, so i'm now just missing the outer bearings that are dependant on the axle type/size. does anyone have a listing for these bearings for both kouki and zenki?

Axle bearings are different too. The T18 and TA22 diffs use a much smaller (narrower) diff bearing. The Kouki and Zenki are much wider.

When i was needing new Zenki bearings i couldnt get any locally, had to order from Japland. That was in 2004 though.

ok so i'm i'm trying to find out what my axles are... i think the diff is a t18 diff? there are 23 splines on the end of the axles

ok, what i have is T18 axles with 23 splines. but i have no bearings on the hub/wheel/brakes end of the axle... can anyone tell me what i need? or what car this diff came from so that i can go to cbc and get the bearings i need?

I disagree with this. The axle bearings are the same between early and late.

If you have T18 axles, you need T18 wheel bearings. Go to Repco. They are the same axles and bearings and everything as early AE86 GT in Japan. (Drum brake T series).
