    You will want to carefully clean off all the paint on the front of the block, the oil pump has to seal on that area as well as the water pump. Also makes it harder to trace oil leaks when they eventually happen.

    The standard rods are fine for 99% of 4A-GE builds, just get them checked for size and put some new bolts in them for cheap insurance.

    Those standard rods I would probably suggest won't size up properly. ;-)
    Jimmee is correct in saying that the standard rods are a reliable unit. It all comes down to tuning and regular maintenance.

    I did see that Pauter from the US had 4ag and 7a rods on sale towards the end of last year for around the $600 mark.
    Before you start purchasing all the rebuild parts, I highly recommend doing your research, and then doing more.

    Naww, good to see my old sprinter getting some love!

    Has come a long way now, nice to see no one ditched those front brakes.

    Hmm something to consider thats for sure!

    Ive worked out the plans for the engine side of the build so far, learning as i go. After reading about coil packs im considering doing that too :p

    Pulled the rest out of the bay
    All bare


    Body deadened both the guards



    Camber tops have seen better days so gave them a paint too
    before

    after (test fit, still needs clear coat & washers)

    Arp flywheel & rod bolts

    Been reading about coilpack conversions for the 4age & looks like 1zz coils are the go
    Will look into it more & go down that track
