Why would you want to. 22R's are shithouse
Hi guys I was wondering if anyone had ever done this swap before and I have a question if so. How exactly would you fit the shorty header without hitting the rack and pinion? Thanks in advance if anyone else could help me out 👌

Oi nah they arent! Maybe a turbo one would be worth it but so many better engines out there.
If you are going to the effort of ripping out the stock motor and putting in an EFi one and doing a fuels system and custom mounts and all that you may as well use a better motor.

I've seen a 22R on bike carbs in a KE55. I've no doubt it could work in an AE86, almost everthing else has been shoehorned into one.
You'll face all the usual hurdles, engine/gearbox mounts, EFI stuff, wiring, plumbing, the unforeseen stuff, etc. Probably nothing super-tricky, just lots of small jobs.
Unless you have $0 to spend and are getting a free engine and have heaps of spare time I can't really see why you'd choose a 22R though.
I love my ra65 but the thought of rammng the 22re into an ae86 makes me cringe. If you want a grunty 2.4, Mivec lancer motor.
22r's are sick
They are okay, but would be way too heavy for my liking in an AE86.
Haha
