Hi my names Aaron and back in august 2011 I became the proud owner of this little ae86
Its a 83 Australian built sunroof model hatch sporting a bog standard 4ac powerhouse and standard everything else with the exception of lowered springs and some 15" Roh wheels, and an aftermarket radio. This was only my second car and the first car I had owned with some sporty aspects, at the time I knew very little about these cars and the world around them, I'd never even seen Initial-D, all I knew is that my mate had one and I liked it. I picked it off Carsales for the grand price of $5,500.
This car has taught me a lot so far, I was 17 when I bought it and from having only driven through the hills a couple of times prior to buying the car and little driving experience it didn't take long for it to change what I wanted to do on a Friday night. Rather then seeing my friends I wanted to be out in the hills, taking new roads, learning better lines and driving techniques, while I've still got a lot to learn I'm grateful that its this car that's teaching me.. its saved my rookie ass more then once!
I've never really had a set plan for how I've wanted it to look, or what I've wanted to do with it. Over the years I must have and over a hundred ideas on things I could do, changing my mind every month or fortnight, or day at some points. Probably the only plan that's stayed there is to have fun with it.
One other thing that's become clear in my mind is that I never want to get rid of it, other cars can come and go but I've build a bond with this car which I hope some of you can understand, to others it may not be much but to me its priceless.
