Bumping quite an old thread (with fantastic information) as I feel like this is a good place to ask.

I'm also putting an AE92 4AGE into an originally 4AC car.

My question is - being that it will be running on twin carbs, will I need to run an ECU to have function on some components? Or will it be fine without one? I suspect it may just control things like temp sensors.

youll need something to control the spark, msd ignitions used to be the flavour most people used.

I've heard of some people running the factory ecu but this is only hear say.

Temp sensors and things like that are An efi setup where more fuel is used when the engine is cold etc

Ah yep - no need then. Have a Scorcher dizzy which just needs 12v power to it. It has a positive and a negative wire off it.

That should be alright then , I've heard of many people putting the 4K dizzy internals inside the 4age one..

Yes, 4K-E internals with locked timing generally. It does work, but won't give you timing and vac advance throughout the whole rev range.

And the smallport dizzy has a non-removable gear (pressed on) whereas the bigport gear is removable (a pin to be drilled out) which I had to source for this dizzy.

I believe this is the appropriate place to continue AE92 wiring questions.

The standard AE92 alternator wiring has a large charge wire that has two lines. These are effectively joined.

My guess is 2x to battery positive (via the fusible link) 1x to the body loom

It then splits to have 3 lines from this. Where do these go?

Does one join to the stock loom, which runs into the interior fuse box?

There is a thick white wire running from the positive to the fuse box (joined to the other alt wires? One charge wire, one from the 3-pin on the alt)

Bonus question: what do I wire the black wire to out of the 2-pin green plug in this pic? And what about the tacho wiring? I have two wires to the coil, and two wires with an o-shape connector too that are definitely too short/not coil wires. Is one an earth and another a tacho?

These are the smallport alterntor wires into the stock loom (with the 6-pin plug, previously having the red and blue wires too for the external regulator?) Correct?

Sorry for all the questions around the forum lately. I try to revisit these, add/correct pictures and answer them as I go for others to see later on.

    Regards.

Went in and mapped a diagram of current wiring/set-up.

    Correct?
Unsure of what the wire does once is splits from the charge wire. Unnecessary? An extra from the AE92 that powers something with charge rather than with battery power.
