Given that pumping the clutch fixes it I'd suggest bleeding it and checking you have no fluid leaks and you're getting good clutch fork movement.
If you still have issues then it could well be more time consuming and expensive.
Hi all,
4age AE86, linked with a T50 Gearbox.
finding I'm getting a very ugly grinding noise coming from the clutch/gearbox sometimes.
It is mostly triggered with my foot on the clutch between R-1 and 1-2. Basically if I've got my foot on the clutch and we're stationary/travelling slowly.
I'm finding on occasion if I pump the clutch the sound goes away, hence I'm finding myself double clutching more frequently.
Clutch is less than 20k kms old, Gearbox is 500k kms +...
Any ideas on what this may be, and should I be seeing a regular mechanic or gearbox specialist?

could be a failed spigot bearing or as hen said the clutch only partially engaging. Changing the clutch fluid is easy, and prob worth checking first.
Failing that let me know if you need it done. I installed this clutch a couple of years ago now but happy to help sort it out
