Looks good mate, nice to see the preservation work in prog.
Thanks again Dan.
Saw this kit at Supercheap on the weekend, but couldn't remember if it was the same one you mentioned. Will have to purchase soon.

I have done a lot of driving this weekend + last weekend, total of 500km meaning the bearings in the diff are now worn in. I gave it a little on the way home and feels much better than before!
Hopefully next weekend i will replace my rear wheel bearings as they are worn. I got a quote from toyota for $305.53 EACH wheel bearing kit.. thought that was absolutely ridiculous since its just a Koyo bearing with a retainer, nothing too special really.. found them on ebay for ~$90 each.
Here are some photos of the interior of my car:
not sure why but i couldnt get the photo of the front seats to rotate, so you will have to turn you head haha
The car came with this Panasonic headunit, i have bought the original radio as well but i kind of like this one a bit more!
The floor mats are by impulse. They are a great quality mat! it is light weight while still being durable, great stitching, the driver footrest is in the correct location and feels great.
if anyone has a spare black cap to cover the top of the rear shock absorber please let me know, its the only piece im missing!
I've said it before & I'll say it again... Absolutely mint!
That head unit is so 80's. Looks right at home in there.
I'm guessing this is a late model car, with those door pockets...?
I want some of those mats, dammit!
Yes that is correct, it is a 1986 GT Apex.
Looks amazing !

Please, do NOT park your car on the street. And no, I don't care if it's your work.

About 3 weeks ago i decided to take the engine out of my ae86. The headgasket was leaking and was getting to the stage that it needed changing. i have always had plans to do some minor engine mods too so thought I may as well do it at the same time. My plan is to restore the engine, making it look as original as possible with few mods.
Mods are:
TRD Headgasket 0.8mm
TRD Thermostat
TRD Engine Mount
Toda Camshaft 264degree 7.9mm lift
Toda Cam Pulley
Toda Distributor Heatshield
Trust/Greddy Oil Cooler (standard kit)
Koyo Radiator
At the moment i have sent the cylinder head and block away for cleaning, testing etc..
Some pictures of when i removed the engine
When i started splitting the engine i found out that it was definitely about time to change the headgasket. She has had a good run haha!
There was a minor score on one of the camshaft journals (easy fix), some marks on the cylinder wall, the pistons were stuffed because of coolant leaking in the cylinders and all exhaust valves were gone!
I am replacing the pistons and valves with OEM parts. The pistons will be 0.5mm oversize to fix the damage on the cylinder wall.
All components on the engine were dirty and needed a good cleaning, including all bolts and nuts! i have also put a thread refresher through every single bolt, nut, stud etc.. Nothing is better than cracking a bolt and then smoothly threading by hand
