    Default 4age smallport elec issue

So finished my conversion, had been driving around for three days no issues, last day I drove it around all day which included starting and stopping (turning car on and off) I left my mates house, drove it 1km to my house, parked it in garage. Two hours later I came out and it wouldn't start. After fiddling with the coil/lead/plug I managed to get it to run for about 5min then died again.

    - It has fuel pressure (checked & tested)
    - The coil plug has 12v
    - The ignitor plug has 12v
    - Both are grounded
    - ECU has power
    - All earths are still attached

I turned power on and used multimeter to check the coil, it still has 12v running through the coil>dizzy end plug, even though it has that power, is it possible that either the lead or the coil is dead?

When it doesn't start is there no spark?

id bridge the diag terminals e1 and Te and do a diagnostic check first

Have you checked you have spark at the end of a ignition leads?

Checked for spark at end of leads, nothing.
Checked for spark at end of coil lead, nothing.
Yet it seems if I get the lead in the right position it will start then die. Brand new leads though so don't know how it would've died already.

Take the dizzy cap off and make sure the dizzy is spinning when you turn the motor over. If there is no signal going to the ecu then there won't be spark either.

I'd also check the coil itself is bolted tightly to the strut tower or wherever you have mounted it. And the main earth in the engine loom is bolted to the inlet manifold.

That little connector you put a bolt in, is the heart of the 4age loom. If that isn't earthed, you will have no spark, sensors / fun.

Took the dizzy cap off, turned over, the dizzy is spinning.
Double checked the main earth, still connected strongly too the intake manifold
The ignitor is bolted to the strut tower and has an earth wire going to another bolt hole on strut tower, the coil is ziptied on top of the ignitor with a earth wire going to strut tower also.

Did you wire in a check engine light? That'd be the next step, by performing a diagnostic check and let the ecu tell you what it is missing.

Nay I didn't. We decided to delete the diag hahaha shit.

Edit; That being said I did keep the Diag port with most of the wiring so it would just be a matter of adding the pins into the ecu where possible. There seems to be alot of useless shit on diag port

All you really need is to provide an earth to the TE pin at the ecu to enter diagnostic mode... The check engine light is real easy, ignition power to one side of the globe and the W pin forms the earth. Put a switch in the cabin somewhere that earths out the pin.

Otherwise you'd be guessing, but the positive side of things no spark can only be one of the following...

    Wiring
    ECU
    Igniter
    Dizzy (CAS)
    Coil

Igniters rarely fail , but given the age it could be that but unlikely. It is weird if you wriggle the lead you get spark though.

I ripped out the loom tonight and took it all apart and checked from broken lines within it somewhere, all seems to be fine, deleted some useless wires and cleaned it up.
I don't think the ignitor has shit itself, thinking more the coil or had been told the dizzy to coil lead.
