    Default ae86 dash wiring questions

just a quick one about nothing on my dash cluster working. car is a ae86 with jdm bigport swapped in.

so firstly no tacho, turn ignition on and tacho needle wiggles but when car starts nothing, which wire from the ecu feeds this? can i just bridge into the ecu wire to the dash cluster pinout?

also the same with the temp and oil pressure. anyone able to help, have been staring at wiring diagrams all day, but so useless at wiring.

Unless the dash has been messed with the wires you are looking for will be located in the centre of the firewall.

    Have a read of this

It should have all the answers to what you are after.

Be sure to ask questions if you are unsure. Won't be hard to talk you through it here

Alright turns out the wiring was an absolute mess, ive spent the last few days sorting it all out and now everything works apart from the temp gauge and reverse lights.

So reverse lights. Have tested switch on gearbox and is fine have bridged the two wires together and absolutely nothing. Traced the wires back to the black plug on firewall and no continuity there at all so not sure whats up there.
Would just like to run my own wires and fuses/relay anyone got a diagram to follow? All the ones ive found have a separate switch and dont want that.

For the temp gauge , once again no continuity from sensor wires to black plug on firewall(but does goto ecu) i tried bridging into the ecu wire(green wire) at the ecu, and ran it to the green/yellow dash wire but the car ran like the temp sensor wasnt even plugged in. (ran like shit) any ideas here?

    Cheers

    Temp sensor

Test the continuity from the top thermostat housing connector and the firewall plug. If there is no continuity between those 2, then either deloom the wiring harness or run a new wire. The sensor at the back of the engine goes to the ecu and is separate from the one to the cluster. If you have continuity to the firewall plug, then check continuity from the cluster to the firewall plug next.

Also DO NOT PANIC, if you find that once you hook the temp gauge up if it goes straight to overheating as soon as a signal is being sent. All that means is the gauge needs an earth wire connected.

    Reverse Switch

The black plug on the firewall should have 12v ignition power to it for the reverse lights to work. The wires in the engine harness go straight to the gearbox switch and connect into the firewall connector. The switch is on the gearbox itself which provides power to the rear of the car.

    Hope that helps..
