“If you love something set it free. If it comes back it’s yours. If not, it was never meant to be.”
Here's my AE86 resto project. I owned it about 4 years ago and ended up selling it to a guy who planned to restore it with his son, but his son was more interested in his music than cars, so it ended up sitting around untouched for majority of the time. He had stripped it down and bought a lot of parts for it.
I missed the car so I kept pestering him about selling it back to me. Finally he was ready to sell and now it's back in my possession.
Here she is in her former glory -
And how she sits now -
It was running a smallport 4A, which is still with the car and has had a freshen up.
My plans are to restore it best I can and put it back on the street. I'll be keeping the same general colour scheme.

Maybe it was the push you needed to get it perfect. Now you have the opportunity to make it exactly as you want it.
Good luck!

cheers guys, I'm hoping to at least make a start on it over the christmas break, between doing all the family stuff. First this to do is tale the remaining windows out and get the rust all fixed!
well, made a little progress in between dealing with christmas and family. Feeling confident so far!
Just doing what I can for now, starting with smaller stuff and working my way up.
What underbody paint/protection have people used?
I'm making slow progress on it, bought a sand blasting cabinet the other day so I can clean up the smaller parts and picked up some more parts. Going to get the underside sweet so I can get it rolling again.
Finally have all the parts for it at my house, got the engine back, she's had a freshen up. Just rings and bearings and a proper clean up. I'm hoping to find some cams for it before I chuck it all together too.
Started looking at wheels as well, thinking 14 x 7 & 8 SSR MK II's, not sure what offsets to run but I'll figure it out soon enough with enough searching and seeing what others run.
