Default All the way from Canada: My AE86

Glad to be apart of this community, my name is Rayneel (or Ray). I purchased my 1985 Toyota Corolla GTS (Canadian designation) in 2007 as the second owner while in College and have been working and building it over the last 9 years. It's 31 years old and has seen 24 years of winter and was once built on a student budget with a new paintjob. Two winters after and two trackdays, my Corolla has seen five engines. My first 16V Bluetop warped the head while overheating on the way back from College, the GZE spun a crank bearing, the first 20V had worn valve seals, second 20V was blown before it was put in (hole in piston). Now today, after nine years of owning and rebuilding the Corolla countless of times I can now say it has been running a solid two years. Before this 20V it was parked for two summers due to funding and studying for things in my career. I ended up dropping the full car and setup to a friend who did majority of the engine work while I was on vacation in Germany. I am an Aircraft Engineer by trade and enjoy both working on aircrafts (Boeing 737 certified) and vehicles in general.

    - Freshly OE Bottom End and Refreshed Head - Blacktop 4AGE 20V
    - OBX Header w/ 2.25" exhaust (It's currently way to loud for my liking)
    - T3 Pulley Kit
    - SQ Engineering 110mm ITB trumpets
    - ARP Headstuds/OE seals/gaskets
    - P/S Delete

The car also went through cosmetic changes such as
    - Megan Coilovers
    - Varrstoen V2 15x8 + 0 - 15mm Spacers on all four corners with IS300 studs
    - OE Kouki Front Bumper with Lip/Fiberglass replica rear
    - OE (replica) or JBlood Side Skirts - if I remember correctly
    - Stripped rear interior.

    Not Installed:
    - Tomei Poncams
    - Haltech Sprint 500

I like to think the car went from a very mild mannered look to a more aggressive look because of the stance it now has which I favor.

These are progression photos. I am missing quite alot of shots with the 16V/GZE and first 20V.

The car now sits in the garage waiting for the new headgasket to be shipped over for install and hopefully I can get back behind the wheel for another summer. I/m also apart of this forum to gain more knowledge and advice on the 20V as it wasn't a motor generally offered in the Canadian market. I have my eyes set on a Spool Imports 4AGE 20V bottom end rebuild kit.

My daily driver is a 2006 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner with 19.9.5/19.10.5 Varrstoen ES2's on it. It has the 1GRFE in it - 4.0L V6, 6 speed manual gearbox and it's rear wheel drive. It's my winter vehicle as well as my daily when I don't drive the AE86. I have owned it for about 6 years now.

    Cheers,
    Ray
