Default Suspension setup - Impacts of different setups.

    Hey All,

I've just picked up a greddy type S coilover kit. They seem to get a good write up, but I'm unclear on what else I'll need when installing the kit.

I'm wondering what the impact of what each of the additional pieces would be. Could someone please clarify.

RCA's- Not sure what size I'll need but from what I've read these are absolutely necessary as they correct the front suspension geometry when you lower the car. They will also eliminate bump steer.

Traction Brackets - My understanding is that when you go really low traction brackets help eliminate axle tramp. I'm thinking because I don't want to go stupidly low I shouldn't need these.

Adjustable Panhard Rod - I think this provides a similar effect to the traction brackets. Can someone clarify?

Are there any other items I should consider when installing the coilover kit? Obviously it is a question of how far I want to take it, let's say I want it to be driveable on street, and I'd like to explore incremental improvements going forward.

    Cheers
    D

An adjustable panhard rod simply allows you to centre the diff. It moves to one side slightly as you lower it and can cause clearance issues. I have never used one since clearance hasn't been an issue.

As for the others, nothing is "absolutely necessary" yet they can be used to improve things. I'm sure the internet is full of info (and misinformation) regarding their use, but as I understand it they both try to return the position of the arms (lower control arms and trailing arms respectively) to their standard angle even though the car is lower than standard.

You will need rcas. How thick depends on how low.

Panhard rod is required after a certain point.
