    Default 4AGE 16V not starting

    Hi there,
I own a Daihatsu Charmant swapped to 4AGE 16V engine.
It all began when cooling fluid ran into cylinders and the spark plugs were wet with it, and than it stopped starting.
I changed the head gasket and spark plugs and car is still not starting.
    Did a few diagnostic tests:
Timing and camgears are setup correctly at all of the markings,
engine cranks when starting and there is spark from all of the cylinders spark plugs,
I can hear the fuel pump is working.

Motor is built and has ITB's.
Sometimes it backfires from the ITB's when I try to start it.
I plugged spark plug wires back the same order I removed them so the order should be fine, but does anyone know what the right order should be to verify?

Any suggestions? what else can I check?

Couple of easy things to check.

    * Are the spark plugs wet?
    * If you remove the oil filler cap can you see the dimple in the cam?
    * Turn the motor to tdc and remove the dizzy cap, the spark should be on cyclinder 1.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you very much.

    Well,
    * Spark plugs dry.
    * I have an HKS camshaft wich doesn't have the dimple, but on TDC camshaft lobes are facing outward each other on cyclinder 1.
    * I don't quite understand you on that one, do you mean to check if I have spark on cylinder 1 when engine gets to TDC?

I was asking you to check to see if the rotor button lined up with the lead for cyclinder 1.

If your spark plugs are dry, you probably don't have injector pulse.

I'd check the condition of the distributor plug physically for any damage. I'd also check if the earths are connected to the engine, with focus mainly on the earth that bolts to the inlet manifold.

Ok so the rotor and distributor seems lined up properly.
    Earths are in place.
    Timing is correct.

I have done a dry compression test and got:
    120 psi on cylinder 1 and 2.
    130 psi on cyclinder 3 and 4.

I've done a research and found a stock 4AGE 16V should be 180 psi for good condition and 150psi minimum.

But my motor has an hks camshaft and low compression Pistons (I have no clue what compression they are exactly but I know it's low compression ones to work with turbo, although the engine is currently N/A), So what the correct compression should be for my motor?
