Hellos,
Would it be overkill for a 6-point roll cage in a 1uz swap KE70 to weigh 40kg? ...
How much do your cages weigh? what would you recommended?
cheers.

It's pretty easy to work out how much a cage should weigh by measuring the linear metres of tube, the OD and the wall thickness (can measure with ultrasonic thingy) or ID and working then out the volume of steel. Then multiply the volume by the density of steel. The density of chrome moly is almost exactly the same as mild steel. Add a couple of percent for gussets, tabs, footings and filler wire/rod.
40kg is in the ball park.
Thanks for the reply. I did the math and total weight will be approx 43kg, which is ~94 lbs also equivalent to a 10hp loss or 0.3 seconds off the pace.
Not so bad I guess.
