    Default xfer ownership process NSW

    Hey

just have got my kp36 (brought off this forum!!) from SA and want to change ownership and also get NSW plates.

any tips to help make this process go smoothly, im trying to minimise visits to the RTA office in Sydney (the waits are mega!!!)

i filled out the change of ownership form from the website and handed it over to be told i need a blue slip from a mechanic. so got a booking to do that, anything else i may need?

ensure that vehcle is tip top, as anything against it will be logged, and will be checked at the next inspection if it fails the initial inspection.

    ah cool!

by tiptop you mean mechanically? it has a wee bit of rust here and there, everything else seems ok tho, its not modded at all apart form a set of 13" hayashi rims. being from NZ our laws are seem to be just a little more relaxed, so i want to make sure i get it right

they will go for the rust, just try and cover it up, doesn't matter if its in primer, just cover it, if you get an asshole of an inspector, he will pick on anything wrong with the car.

all you can do is try, but as i said if they find something it will be logged, best to get it checked by a mechanic, before you go for the slip.

Though there are dodgey ones out there, that will pass anything, i dont know of any though.

just the transfer papers you should of got from the previous owner, I think ther is a form you need to fill out at the rta, not sure it has been a while. And obviously the blue slip, and your licence

oh and mechanics don't take sheep as payment over here

Yep, a registered mechanic does the blueslip.
You can get a list from your local RTA or online I think.
