the shock will just compress on its own. just set the hight using the C spanners. measure distance from tyre to guard to set height. wind down the adj pearch , set height and lock.
u got rears 2?
got pix?
Hey,
I have just recently bought a set of greddy coilovers and i want to lower it a little.
The question is do i need to lower the shock as well as the spring? and if so how do i work out the correct height for the spring and height for the shock when lowering the car?
Thanks

The simplest coilover just have one big thread, the adjustable spring platform, and the lock nut.
But some more elaborate ones, like what many Nissans use, and I think the Greddy AE86 ones, also have the shock body threaded into the lower strut/knuckle part. Both adjustment places effect body height, one effects shock placement.
If you are not going to stuff around with it heaps, just adjust the spring platform one, and make sure all the lock nuts are tight.
Min body height to the ground is 100mm, so get something that high and throw in under the car to make sure it clears.
I love it how with mine, you set them the same on the coilovers but they end up being different heights.
is that cause your car is now a twistie marvis?? hahahahaha
spose what ever you lower your spring from stock you would do the same for the shock?
Weight distribution...
Also, lowering a corner will raise the opposite diagonal corner; something to keep in mind when trying to get everything even in terms of ride height.
Original function of height adjustment suspension was to correct weight distribution to locate the center of gravity where it should be/would be best for certain driving styles. Generally, lowering a corner will shift weight to that corner and thus move the center of gravity towards it.

yeah the greddy are sick.
anyways i with the rear you will need to adjust the springs to match the shocks.
i would lower the springs and shocks to the lowest on the rear and adjust them up equally, i.e the same number of threads. till you get the height you want. the reason for this is to adjust the spring perch in the rear you have to take the perch out, cant get a c spanner in there
yer ill try that ill adjust the spring along with the shock together on the rear
the fronts dont allow you to adjust the shock i dont think?
yeah they do
