Default 4AGTE - What turbo do you use / suggest?

    Car - KE70 Panelvan

    motor - Building 4A-GTE

use - Reliable Daily aiming for around 150rwrw

problem - Don't know much about turbo model numbers

occurs/started when - I began to look for a turbo and knew sfa about them

    personal situation -

I'm intending to build a 4A-GTE (using a smallport) and would like to know what turbo people would suggest I purchase. I was considering KKR but people on this forum have spoken nasty things about them so I'm thinking it may be a stay clear zone. What I'm after is a very reliable power curve with good torque. I'm picking up a Haltech E8 this coming week and already have purchased 20 thou OS genuine brand new Toyota pistons on ebay, will be using GZE rods also. So the bottom end side of thing is pretty much sorted once I buy some ACL shit. The head will be a stockish rebuild with a nice valve grind and possibly solid bucket conversion, got a T3 adaptor and vac manifold on the way as I intend to buy some ITB's and make a custom plenum. What I'm aiming for is a good motor with low boost for reliability reasons as it's for a daily driver, looking to run a max of 0.8bar/12psi boost.

    What turbo is reccomended?

Serious dude? Those things can make 400rwhp (albeit America horsepower) on an SR.

Do what Dave said. Stay with something small for that power.

S14/S15 T28. BB or non-bb, doesnt really matter, both will flow enough to make that power and be awesome

rb25 turbos work amazingly well (even though it doesnt make sense that they should) and they're worth nothing.

t28 turbo with t25g font comp housing. Fast spool and bigger potential for power

    a t28 with a t25 housing doesn't have more potential for power

how in the world did you come to that conclusion?

ofcourse it does. You have faster spool then a t28 and the bigger core then the t25g. I down graded from my t28 to this hybrid and i have alot more midrange with same top end
Its budget for aleast 160 -170 on 15psi with great respone

    -Housing- 60 Inlet / 50 Outlet - 0.60 A/R
    TURBINE:
    -Wheel- 62 Trim - 53.0 Major / 41.7 Exducer
    -Housing- GT25 inlet / Internal GT25 oulet - 0.64 A/R

this would be an excellent turbo

dont you mean, t28 with t25 rear housing. so it spools up quicker.
other way around wouldnt make sense. having a smaller front housing and bigger rear.

i was running a garrett gt28rs (disco spud) with .86 rear. for better breathing in higher revs. could have gone the .64 rear housing, would have better response but choked up in higher revs. ideally a smaller rear housing with an external waste gate was the better option. but getting the bigger rear was more cost affective.
    that was on a ca18det.
