I think theres a bit of a lack of sporty lsds for the G series too. Lots of factory LSDs but not a lot of trd 2way clutch lsds from memory that would drift well.
Thanks Matt.
I'll take my chances and see how far it can go.

Indeed, i haven't seen 2 way stuff, apart from the $$$ aftermarket supra ones. But at some point i'll save up for a TrueTrac center. People say good things about them.
Cheers.

I was reading about some differences in the Supra stuff, apparently theres 200, 204 and 208mm cw and pinion sets, and lsds to suit are not necessarily going to work with the live axle design, unlike f series where everything is crossed over and fits regardless of irs or live.
That could be true, but I've seen some [online] that have successfully been swapped into live axle. Ofcos there's massaging involved, plus the use of bearings from an older landcruiser or something like that.
Now, the only good thing I've read so far is that the centre spring in the Hilux LSD can be swapped for a stronger/stiffer one, or even simply putting a 3mm washer under it. This is a common mod done by guys on offroadexpress. They say it tightens up the lock effect... here's a link
I'm going to take this route once I figure out how to put it all back together.

Apparently there's a workshop in Nz that sells modified LSD units for Hilux diffs. Their units work like 2 way. Another link:
Update:Feedback and final thoughts about the G-series diff
Today I installed the G-series diff and went for a spin. It's heavy. Really heavy. Felt like I was towing something in the back. Could not take the high speed corners like before... i had to be careful. Car was so sensitive to the slightest bumps in the road.
So to conclude, I'll go the banana peel way and continue with the stock S-series. Apart from the insanely loud whining, it was quite perfect.
I don't recommend the G-series for our cars... unless you are perhaps above 500hp.

Weir performance sells a spool for the "S" series 6.38” diffs.
I tried emailing them not long ago about one, but no one ever got back to me?
Yes I've seen similar spools on speedway motors. I think they were called "Toyota 8-Bolt Steel Full Spools" or s'mthng like that. Cost about ~ $180.
