Welcome to the world of rwd corollas. Nice to hav u here
Hey everyone,
My name is Nathan live in Ryde, Sydney. I'm new to the forums, have wanted an ae86 ever since i was about 16 or so.. it's pretty much my dream car.. Finally got one a few months ago!! Really happy to pick this one up for $1000. Has a 4-ac with a blown head gasket. 145,000 k's on the clock and a bucket load of rust. (not anymore)
MANY hours later (this is only the 1st coat of primer - the 2nd coat looks alot more solid):
Have used about 4kg of body filler and spent a shit load of time with the angle grinder and sanding block. I have sprayed two coats of primer on it at the moment, probably going to leave it like that for now until I get the engine swapped!
I want to get rid of this 4-AC and go with a 20v silver or blacktop or 16v 4A-GE... hard choice... (just want something better than the 4a-c, i used to have an ae82 with a 4a-c and it wasn't that powerful...
Anything I should keep from the 4A-C before i scrap it? Or, anyone want a 4A-C with a blown head gasket for free? (minus the parts i may need for the conversion of course)
I have bought jet black paint for it. Doing it in acryllic. I am a total noob, but willing to give anything a go including the conversion, just going to buy an engine & stand as soon as i get the money. Have a nissan pulsar sr20de that I will sell off soon that will hopefully fund the conversion!!
I'm really happy to find this club, I have seen so many awesome projects and you guys seem pretty cool!

Thanks for the welcome!
Thanks mate, I'll add that to the list!
No, I wish. I have never met any other AE86 owners before. Oh except for one guy who was a tow truck driver for NRMA, I got them to tow it home but never actually seen his AE86.
interesting, before you paint it, how sure are you that the rust will not come up again?
i dont doubt your chassis work but you know, just in case last thing you want is rust coming up 2 days after you laid down paint...lol good old primer AE86, oh the memories of smelling paint
dose
I am pretty darn sure(for now anyway) but not 100% sure.. i ground every bit of rust down to bare metal that I could see anyway, used killrust etch primer on it, then bogged it, sanded the whole car, etched the bare metal again, then wetsand 600grit then primed, wetsand 600grit again then primed again. As much as I'd like to spray the base coat on now, I am going to hold off for that exact reason you mentioned, the rust coming through, so I'll see how my noob skills go till i get the engine sorted Then time for the JET BLACK! If I was you I probably would doubt my chassis work as this is the first time i have ever done any sort of body repair, or car spraying, poor ae86 :'( Never swapped an engine before either, not even a gearbox.(will soon) I am determined to learn. I love it and I will try my best
Interior looks mint as!!
I want it!
Nice work mate !!!!!
