    Default falcon AU springs

    Just wondering about these springs.
Are they the same diameter size as ae86 springs?
    And are they 6kg/mm?

In other words is there anything dodgey about putting these in the back?

cause the internet is full of rubbish information?

    they arent progressive rate....

the rate will be determined on how much you cut them, its the same with ANY spring (a spring is just metal.....)

i have them in the back for my car, no idea on the rate, but they seem to be pretty well matched with the 8kg (i def know they are 8) in the front.

also if you get springs from one of those bigger falcons, fiarmont/LTD type things the springs will be stiffer again.

you cant expect exact information on the spring rate, since knowone knows how much they are to start with, and everyone cuts them at different lengths.

i got mine for like 10$/pair, best off getting some, cutting them, and see if you like them!

There's calculators you can find on the net which calculate spring rates. You'll need wire diameter, coil diameter, etc.

I calculated mine and it worked out to be around 6.5kg/mm.

    haha tell me about it.
yeah im not after exact information, but from 6kg down to 3kg is a bit of a difference.
was just going to get a few and test some ideas out, I am aware of spring mechanics, just dont have one infront of me to work out the rate.

The calculator only ask for 'active coils', so I put in how many I had. The bottom coil and I think a quarter of the top coil was thought of as 'inactive' coils.

    Yeah sweet,
should be from where the coil at the bottom lifts off the seat to the same at the top.

They differ between falcon models but in a stock falcon (not LTD/fairlane) they are no stiffer than 4.5kg at about 3 inches lower than stock.

I had LTD ones in the front of my car at one stage and they felt like about 5kg.
