Hey guys, im having something slightly weird happen with my Ze.
So far i have only really thrashed it two times since i have run the car in. Both these times have been a decent run up the local hills so obviously the motor will be hitting some decent working temps.
Both times this has happened, by about 5-10 mins of decent thrashing the power of the car's power seems noticeably lower. Its not instantaneous, but it does feel noticeable.
As far as i can see;
Water temp is fine - sitting nice and low
I dont think the belt is slippling - It his 0.6 Bar without problem.
The revs feel smooth, just simply feels less powerful...
The only thing that stands out, is that oil pressure is usually on 60psi when the car is warm but not being thrashed... and once i stop and idle after thrashing it (and power seems lower) the oil pressure sits on 40psi.
Anyone got any idea's whats going on?

what sort of power loss?
when i first ran my ze the knock sensor would trip out (for some reason?) and it started to feel really slugish after that, this is due to the ecu over fueling and retarding the timing. If i turned the car off it would reset the ecu and it was fine. somthing the look at maybe?

oil pressure is fine mine sits on 25-40 psi at idle
have u checked the computer for fault codes or what intercooler are u running

AE101? Those knock sensors are dodgy and trip the ecu like Tim said. Although it retards the timing at 5-5.5k rpm due to it "thinking" its knocking when it actually isn't. Replacing with another model gze does not work, but ones from a 7m do seem to work (just need to modify the plug).

Hmm that sounded like thats what it could be,
however last night when i was driving it, it would actually become quite quick after about 5k rev's....
That said it wasnt doing that the first time it did it.

i just wrapped my knock sensor with a bit of thread tape to dull the sensor, worked a treat. not sure if you have your engine light conected but mine would light up when the "limp home" mode kicked in.
are you running a frount mount? (i think i had seen it in your thread) if your still using the top mount maybe heat soak is your problem.
im voting for the knock sensor many people seem to have problems with the

on my bigport 4ag...
oil when cold: ~75psi idle and above 3000rpm
oil when hot: ~30psi idle and ~75psi above 3000rpm

Yer its sounding more and more like the knock sensor. The first time when i took the car for the run it didnt feel much better the whole ride home despite cooling down, next day it felt instantly quick again though..
Next time it happens i might turn the car off and see what happens, its something im going to have to resolve because it certainly doesnt like to drift when its like that.

if you want a 7m knock sensor to try ive got 2 here.

Oh ok that might work, i actually have a Yaris one in there..... Maybe its like super duper sensitive............
Im assuming if this is pretty common, there would obviously have to be an appropriate solution to this or no one would be able to thrash their motors?

Oh right, cheers.
I might have to go with the 7m one, seems the yaris one is cactus... kinda average, i had to buy it to get my car running.
