Car - ae86

motor - 4age smallport running on a mirco-tech lt10s + x4 on gze coils

use - daily plus track

problem - the tacho acts like a on and off switch

occurs/started when - i got it wired up last week

personal situation - need rego, so i need to fix the problem asap.

as above guys . the tacho works but more like a on and off switch , does not show idle rpm and only works when i go pass 2000rpm or so ... ive been told that it needs the signal amplified or something .

has anybody heard of this ?

you might have to change the resistor on the back of the cluster like you would with a gze ecu.

you could try this. it will cost you 6c and a bit of time. the resistor can be bought from dick smiths etc

Just did the tacho mod myself and it works a treat!!

It will cost you about $1.50 for parts from jaycar, and about an hour to pull it apart and solder it up.
