Has the dust even settled from your new year shenanigans yet? If you caught armin van buuren at either summafieldayze and summadayze over the weekend then probably not, but for fans of the world’s #1 dj the news just hitting the streets is that the dutch enigma will be back for an australian tour over the june long weekend.

Confirmed by future entertainment only on thursday evening, the internet forums lit up immediatelywith the news that we’d be enjoying his presence over the june long weekend for the third year in a row. While in ‘07 we got the national ‘white party’ tour, last year sydney and melbourne were treated to the epic ‘armin only’ parties that were marked down by many as the most memorable and exciting events of the year. There’s been whispers that in 2009 we’ll be getting more of a traditional club tour, but only time will tell.

i like some techno music. but once i was at a rave and i walked past a stage and it sounded like every sample in the song was taken from a woman being raped.. IE a heap of screams. this combined with the effect of my acid made for a very uncomfrotable time.

and have you noticed the sort of crowd that usually goes along with hardstyle? they usually have there head stuck so far up their ass its not funny, i would say the most shocking for that would be 3d and twister

im really excited about the new hard trance starting to get around that will slowly stream into techno clubs. i saw steve hill and technikal play a few weeks ago, to say the least steve hills set was mind blowing. out of the hour and a half set he played, i recognised 2 songs that i knew and the rest was new fucking awsome music.

MYSTIC - HARDCORE REDEMPTION

Friday March 6th @ Earth Nightclub

9pm til 6am

For a night of pure hardcore bliss and hard rave mayhem we bring you Australia’s finest hardcore performers...

DJ WEAVER (NSW)

For the past 10 years, hardcore music has been the passion and drive behind Weaver, from DJ’ing to producing, Weaver is Australia’s number 1 hardcore DJ and producer and is signed to nearly every hardcore record label in the world including the world’s number 1 hardcore record label Raver Baby Records. It started in the summer of 2000; Weaver started getting regular bookings on Sydney’s underground rave circuit.
After all the commotion of his last global tour, Weaver returned to OZ and produced tracks on the biggest hardcore labels in the world including Raver Baby Records, Next Generation Records, Relentless, Hardcore Masif, Infinity, Liquid Hardcore, Blatant Beats, Ballistic Bootlegs, Evolution, Evolution Plus, Nukleuz, Masterwax, Executive, Warped Science, Infexious Audio, Hardcore Collective, Liquid Hardcore, FBI, Thin N Crispy, UK Hardcore, UK Dance & more.Weaver has been busy in the studio and is about to unleash some more dance floor burners for the hardcore ravers worldwide.

DJ S3RL (QLD)

DJ S3RL from Brisbane, Australia, has been writing and producing his own tracks since the year 2000. Before this well known Happy Hardcore DJ was discovered he was part of the rave scene, letting loose on the dance floor as a raver and stays close to his rave heritage even today.

S3RL scored his first break at the end of 2005. When Kevin Energy and Sharkey came down under, S3RL showed them his skills on one of the many demo cd's he had and it was only weeks later that Kevin Energy got back to him with a contract ready to sign. S3RL was to release his track 'Transformers' on to vinyl under the NuEnergy Collective (NEC) label 'Relentless'. This made S3RL the first DJ in Queensland to be signed to a major hardcore label and not long after he was already mixing it up with names such as Kevin Energy, Brisk, Sharkey, Scott Brown, Neophyte and many more.

Since then he has firmly secured his place in DJ Haze's label 'Excecutive Records' in Sydney, Australia as well as the NEC and has had a steady flow of releases on both labels and has had tracks featured on complilations such as 'Bonkers' and 'Masif Hardcore'. All this while showcasing his talent to a world wide audience DJing at events all around Australia and the rest of the world.

Having multiple EP's to his name featuring tracks like the smash hit that truly broke him into the scene - 'Pretty Rave Girl', S3RL has also been working with numerous bands from around the world doing re-mixes and collaborations. The most notable is his work with US band 'The Medic Droid' with his remix of their track 'Fer Sure' which also went on to become a worldwide hit.

Known 4 his intense stage presence and floor filling musical abilities be sure to watch out for S3RL as he mixes up a storm and continues to keep the crowd jumping with all his future productions.

DJ LUMINATE (WA)

Luminate has been at the fore front of the Perth rave scene since his first DJ sets on NYE 2006. Supporting the sounds of Freeform and Hardcore, In mid 2006 he was runner up in the Rise bedroom to Bigroom competition, catching the eye of Force Entertainment and quickly being snapped up to play his first official (Double) booking on NYE at Sunrise and Rise nightclub. In the following year he went on to establish himself as one of Western Australia's fastest rising stars in the hardcore scene.
Teaming up with Sydney ex pat Steve Whiskey he played every major rave and club party that Perth had to offer and placed second in the annual Perth Dance Music Awards in the Hardcore DJ category. It was during this year that Luminate got a taste for making the music he loves and he began to try his hand at producing.
2008 proved to be another strong year as he went on to play at huge events such as Insomniak 2, Reset 3, Nightmare 2, Sunrise 3 and continued to smash the decks at Rise. Another successful showing in the PDMA's placing third behind hardcore legends Rousa & Hutcho shows that Luminate is proving himself to be one of the next big names in the Australian Hardcore movement.

During his time behind the 1's and 2's Luminate has had the pleasure to play along side some of the worlds biggest name's such as Breeze, Sharkey, Menis, Dair, Weaver, Darren Styles, Al Storm, Kevin Energy, Proteus and Scott Brown. A man on the up... With many upcoming Local & Interstate gigs and many different productions in the pipeline DJ Luminate is one name to look out for in 2009.

DJ/MC WHISKEY (WA)

In late 2004, before even stepping behind a pair of turn tables, Steve Whiskey started out in the Sydney rave scene as an MC, Teaming up with Thrillseeka promoter and Hardcore legend DJ Crystal. From their fist set in early 2005, they went onto play at events such as Ravevalley, Society, Scattered and Liberation, also touring Adelaide twice playing Twisted in June and Rezerection in October.
In September of that year he pick up a fortnightly residency at popular Thursday club night Dosage and alongside other residents DJ Dover, DJ Focus and MC Rek formed the group Four Point Theory and set about pushing the darker freeform sound.
In early 2006 he teamed up with Cranky Entertainment (Dover, Prototype, Tokai, Nycon and Draz Nova) and put on "A New Beginning" in January and "Nothing Suss" in June which was a complete sell out. During this time playing his first DJ set at Dosage B2B with Ryno.
In mid year of 2006 Dosage closed its doors and Four Point Theory disbanded, which left Steve to continue to MC as a separate entity playing at Blacklisted, Ultra, Marvel and for a third time in Adelaide at Twisted 2, in late 06 early 07 finished his time in Sydney playing Eckythump, Reactor and Neverland.
A move to Perth in March saw Whiskey take 3 months off from performing and in 2007 Steve's love for Hardcore return as he teamed up with DJ Luminate playing B2B at Reset 2, from there the parties started coming in quick succession and he began DJ'ing and MC'ing regularly for FO.R.C.E Entertainment (Perth's leading AA rave promoter). Since that party Steve has gone onto play at all of the F.O.R.C.E Raves and 18+ gigs and in early 2008 began to playing at WA's largest hard dance nightclub, Rise. In this same year he was voted in the top 3 category of the Perth Dance Music Awards (PDMA) "Best MC" award, no small feat as this category is usually dominated by Drum n Bass & Hip Hop MC's.
Whiskey has MC'd for the likes of Weaver, Scott Brown, Matrix, Suae, Haze, Al Storm, Uplift, Scar, Destiny, Impact, Stompy, Menis, Dair
and supported DJ Dean, Pulsar, Sharkey, Kevin Energy, Alex Magane, Brooklyn Bounce, Antix, Hamunaptra, Dione, Lenny Dee and Rob Gee.

SEVENTY 7 (QLD)

Since bursting onto the Brisbane hard dance circuit in late 2001, Seventy-7 has been praised for his explosive energy and furious pace behind the decks, but his love for music didn’t start there. Back in 98 at a young age, his passion for the harder edge unfolded, playing at various underage parties, through the years. Being heavily involved in the Brisbane scene since he was 16 he soon landed his 1st set at System 6 – Shutdown, 2002.

Securing a residency at System 6 the following yeah, Steve organized a room along with fellow DJ Lusive, dubbed the ‘Nucore,’ This crew smashed apart every rave, bringing the unheard sounds of freeform and UK hardcore in all its forms. Leaving lasting impressions with every raver, Seventy-7 grew rapidly to become one of the most in demand rave DJ's in Brisbane. Playing at every major party since the Nucore started, he has smashed dance floors alongside all the greats of the UK hardcore scene.

He is known for being at the forefront of the UK hardcore sound in Brisbane, from the freeform to the hardcore leading him to play along side the likes of Kevin Energy, DJ Sharkey, N.E.C. Live, AMS, Proteus, Robbie Long, Ultrasonic and back 2 back with DJ Sharkey @ System 6 NYE 03, just to name a few.

2006 brought a new angle of Steve's hardcore. Teaming up with long time mate Whispa to form Australia's 1st live hardcore act, C.O.A. In just a year of gigging throughout Australia, C.O.A headed off shore through the UK and Finland, bringing with them Australia's premier live hardcore sounds. The response to C.O.A's productions and explosive live show has been overwhelming.

Seventy-7's love and passion for his music can be seen in every set he plays, controlling dance floors with an unstoppable array of twisted euphoric melody’s and relentless beats. With his energetic style and rapid progression with his production, Steve has secured a bright and promising future within the hardcore scene.

As the raving revolution continues MYSTIC plans to invade Earth with Australia’s finest hardcore performers!

I thought it was ok, not the greatest though.

LCK's set was the best IMO, maybe not the hardest tunes but defiantly flowed the best and actually had some progression.. The Rotten Egg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29yOFbdo72I) is a good highlight, along with his own track internal external (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDH4UHZVBE0)

Scott Project's mix was just a joke, i don't think there was a single track he played that i liked.

Hellraiser was ok but he got too crazy towards the end... i'm not a fan of the metal fusion mixes he does. With that said, some of the best songs from the album were in his set... Sound Expander (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DaAY7pvzSY) and So Many Sacrifices (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmhYUPZkOKM)

yeh, it'll be a shame if it is all over. i've been looking for some alternative to fill the void for a while now, still havn't found anything quite the same :(

I agree with you on scott project, just horrible. i like the hard n nasty stuff, im not always a fan of the last song on every set Hellraisers released (compaired to "your mother" and "future priests", "Sacrifices" was almost tame), so i really only listen to lck for a bit of a change.

you heard vol 1? A*S*Y*S is on it too, brilliant stuff on that. BloodAngels and Cun7master are off the friggin walls!

Teknoid - Edge of Darkness
The Raiders - Miss Kidman On A Cruise

love those,
really liked the beat to the Alex Kidd - Pump up the jam, but im not much of a fan of stuff thats been ripped from popular titles.
DBD - schranz & Tings, was good, dunno tho, i'd probably have to listen to it a bit more to get into it.

The Horrorist - Flesh Is The Fever [The Prophet remix]. its not to everyones taste its more like the "blood angels" i was talking about before.

Emphasis - Psyco Entertainment [Entertain Me mix]. works for me.

Also cosmic gate deserves a mention, not much i dont like from them. they did a set for MOS hard NRG 7 way back when, bloody good trance that is :)
