hey guys for a long time i had idle problems at random times, after i cleaned the carbon from my plenum was fine but now sometimes comes and goes sits around @ 1500 after driving but if im sitting @ lights and tap throttle goes down to 1k, then after driving to next set of lights back to 1500, would figure it would be higher if it was an air leak, some days doesnt even happen, got any ideas?

sticky throttle plate? tapping the throttle works it back to its original position perhaps.

more than likely your thermatic idle valve is clogged up with crap (assuming you have one and its hooked up to coolant). its in the housing the bolts underneath the throttle body with 5 screws. sometimes they can be cleaned out but usually you have to find a better one/new one to fix the problem completely.

Anthony is on the money, they're a prick those valves, and being 25 yo many of them are stuffed by now.

$300 new from Toyota last time I checked.
