Everyone wants to be JDM but no one wants to be rice...JDM is RICE!!

anyways...

so ive got a duck wing on the hatch of my ae86 cause chicken wing is better in the stomach, has more meat:P

in near future im thinking of also running a GT-wing, car will be for the midnight touges and weekend track drifts and grip, so overall, driven hard

GT-wing...D1 drifters use it for obvious reasons...makes u drift
N2 ae86 use them cause it makes u grip more
Rice86 wants to run one for the above reasons

peoples thoughts on the GT wing on Duck wing?...
also anyone got photos of these wing on wing action please post :P

you dont mean gt wing bolted to the top of a duck wing do you? cause that would be horrible. i like the plain ol duck tail.

i like your use of proverbs and similies, your writing expresses a great depth and substance which would appeal to a wide audience. well done, however i think you could have brought more to the conclusion of the story as it felt a tad rushed.

i think it will be fine, i was going to do it myself but have settled for another option

in my opinon, if the item serves a purpose then it isnt rice

classic example is, people who run canards but have wheels that dont even fill the stock guards, and hence negate the need for canards

Yep, I'm a fan of the N2 look.
As above^^^^though, the Tec-arts, you need an aggressive wide body kit to pull it off.
I think it will work without the rear under defuser though lol....

You can use the off white Trueno as the single GT wing alternate look.

It looks good on race cars and has purpose, but there is no purpose for a daily.

...I like race!;)

im not a fan, you would need to be going pretty quick for a gt wing to actually do anything. If you were able to go that quick and then want to drift i dont think a 4a would have enough to out power the wing. tom munkhouse had to pull his of his 180 and thats got a rb26 with a massive turbo!

flat out track car looking for everylast tenth of a second = cool

"car will be for the midnight touges and weekend track drifts and grip, so overall, driven hard" = money could be spent in other areas to improve car, end of the day more people will laugh rathen than respect

right wing on ducktail looks alright. needs bodykit to go with it. get one that unscrews at the base of the wing, so you can take it off for street.

don't bother, yes it looks better than no ducktail and GT style wing but just a ducktail is where its at.

Richard
8th December 2009, 05:56 AM
will it really help? i thought it would only make a difference on the track and only if you go the full hawl like Tec Arts you know. front, rear diffuser, canards etc etc..

rthy
8th December 2009, 08:36 AM
on the road = rice
on the track and if u can go fast enough for the wing to be used then yeah

anyone got a pic of dane's old lemon with the massive wing??..

I really liked the look of how he did it....

redsprinter
8th December 2009, 09:05 AM
as above .. yeah might be cool .. if your chasing every last tenth of a second or every kilo of traction and your current skills can match it. but by that stage you car will be a proper track car ..

i reckon a good example to go off is DK's trueno . built to be driven hard on the street but and comfortable enough as a daily ... would be cool to drive DK n2 TRD car for 1 day but i would personally get over it pretty quickly ...

oh yeah touges pass dont allow you to physically go that fast that it would need a gt wing.

If your gunna drive around on the street. DON'T put a freakin wing on your car...
I think you'd be much better off spending the time and money on getting a proper Difuser made to go under the rear...

Won't look ragingly homosexual and will probably do more for the handeling of your car..

Less drag..more stable at speed... down force (depending on design)..

Big ass race car wings FAIL on street driven cars... Really need to be moving quick for them to be effective..

Plus your just attracting unwanted attention.. From just about everyone..

Rice86
10th December 2009, 02:36 PM
difusers are future plans too

xero
10th December 2009, 05:57 PM
man its your car, do you like. im like them, reckon it looks pretty good too. diffusers are a fair bit MEH, and generally require a bit more fucking about.

having said that, a diffuser is going to be about as good a big towel rack wing on your street car, being that both need lots-o-speed to actually do anything. you'd also want more grip at the front of the car as well, so you'd have to have some sort of big front lip/aerodynamic front bar or diffuser again to push the front down. if you just had a rear towel rack wing or diffuser it would push down on the rear making the rear wheels stick better at high speed, but the front would lift. not enough to make the wheels leave the deck but enough to make the steering very light and fair unstable as the front wheels are not getting as much grip as the rears.

but agian all this would only be apparent at high speed ie 100km/h+

--Redwork--
11th December 2009, 03:41 PM
A diffuser helps more than just down force... It minimizes the turbulance behind the car created buy air passing over and under the car.. Reducing Drag and helping to keep the car stable...

Weather you had front areo mods or not a good diffuser is still a worth while investment.
