My brake master is fucked ... i recently found this out and the quote for repair was $275 ... Fuck that! ( damaged threads)

so what brake masters will bolt onto a Toyota AE86 brake booster ... i was looking at one from an AE101 today as it sorta matched the one i yanked out of my AE86 ... (the fucked one) as it had similar spots for the brake lines to screw into it.

would an AE101 one work for my AE86 .. would it be any good?

and i heard something about needing to get one from a car that had drum brakes at the back, because i have drums at the back atm ... apparently they have a different valve or something that wouldn't allow disk brakes to back off so when used with disks apparently they would just lock up...

has anyone had any problems with brakes locking up when they convert from drums to disk?

what brake masters are a good upgrade for an AE86... tell me what you got.

A good upgrade from a broken AE86 master cylinder is a good AE86 master cylinder. They are all the same, for either disc or drum. There is no valve in them. They are 13/16" in size.

You can use a master cylinder off a TE72 (T18 SE) or a AE86 or a AE71 or KE70. They all fit. The TE72 item is iron, the AE86 one is alloy. But otherwise both are exactly the same. I think you could get a TE72/KE70 one brand new from somewhere.

You would only want a larger one if you have larger brakes also.

For the drum to disc conversion, you are suposted to change the proportioning valve. Or change the spring in the proportioning valve. Personaly, I have removed the guts of the proportioning valve and will adjust later after testing if needed.

i need a new one to.
if im running wilwood "big brake" set up, and want to go disc rear in the future. would a bigger MC be worth if? and would a brake bias adjuster be worth the purchase?

also does any one know the part number for a ae86 cluch master by any chance?

A larger BMC will improve your pedal feel and a brake bias adjuster may be worth it depending on whether the ratio of front to rear braking capacity is close to the original designs specifications.

www.toyodiy.com will give you the part number for the clutch master.

I hve an s13 Bmc and an r33 one. I heard the r33 one had an inbuilt proportioning valve. Can anyone confirm this?? Or I will just use the s13 one and a proportioning valve from wilwood. If it helps I have commodore rear discs and fc rx7 fronts.
Cheers nic

i grabbed one from a pajero today but i dont think it will work as its missing an inner cone that the flange on the brake lines is supposed to seal against ... but im going to try it. it looks the same as steroidchickens one ...

Your right, that inner cone thing is important. You won't get a seal otherwise.

Some Nissan ones do have an inbuilt proportioning valve. I know the R31 coupe is like this, which is the same as some R32 ones. But this version can be sucessfully used I believe. They have 3 outputs in total, labeled R, F and F. The valve by chance, may suit your setup. If you want to remove the valve, there is a way to do it, but you really need to know what your doing.

I idealy, I would be looking for a very simple master cylinder that just has 2 outputs, and is 15/16" or 1".

to use pajero one you need a bango bolt and the banjo fitting off a ford laser aswell.

pajero one is 15th/16th
best photo i got. standard they have a twin outlet at the front. by using a banjo bolt and fitting of a laser it converts it to one.
for the price works out cheaper than nissan one.

I have an S13 one, bolts up to the stock booster and has 3 ports in it, So I can get rid of the proportioning valve as it is inbuilt.

Running a Rebuilt JDM AE86 front disk, with ST141 corona rears all rebuilt.

i think i just found the type of master cylinder i had before ... it appears its from a JZA70 supra ... well thats what i can gather from this web page ...
http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52049

its the 2nd one down ...

The problem is, those master cylinders are 4 bolt. And the sort you have is 2 bolt.

You would have to pull the booster apart and convert it to 4 stud with welding and stuff.
