If you were a designer of the ae86, knowing what you know now, what would you change?

id tap into more parts swappability with the bigger brothers like the nissan guys. wouldnt bother with the irs.... its meant to be a cheap quick throwaround car and i think unless they pulled it from another platform it would up the price too much.
maybe if i was goin nuts id look to improve the rear platform with something like dimitri's rear end. Equal length arms out to the side as far as possible to still allow a useable interior space, but improve adjustability and rear traction.
More chasis rigidity. Obviously need to be clever about this one as the easiest way to do this is to add material, but that would increase the weight.

And the price isn't too much now?

they should have gone with the mentality of making it the worlds most unbreakable car... kinda like the Hilux has the rep for. so in saying that, they should have fitted an F series diff with LSD, sure its slightly heavier but you'll never EVER break it. same with the gearbox... why used the T50? at the time of production there was a shitload of W boxes being pumped out by toyota so why not use one of those standard.
We all know that the 4age is a bulletproof motor... but give us the 20V version stock.
now that would be a cult car ;)
