You need either a test light or a multimeter.

The cheap digital multimeters are so cheap these days. Only $12. DickSmith or Supercheap or anywhere.

A test light will be $5.

You can make your own test light with a 12v bulb and bits of wire.

yeh get a multimeter.

you will no doubt need one when you encounter future problems, so spend the 15 bucks and save yourself a world of headaches.

alternatively, get the 1 wire and put it to ground. and attach it to your tongue, via alligator clip (alot cheaper than $5!).

then attach another alligator clip to each wire you want to test.

take a deep breath, and start testing. not to much of the zappy stuff at a time though, might make you go bald.

on a different note,

i bought this not long ago, my trusty $30 jaycar item packed it up. cheapest i could find between supercheap/dse/jaycar etc.

nice little unit. though i dont think it has continuity beeper which is kinda annoying at times.

but yer forget about trying to do this stuff without some testing equipment.

Ive got the wiring diagram here, will tell you what your looking for in a tick.

Although there is a fused radio battery wire which is a single pin plug taped to the loom, it is white/red in colour.

Ok, here it goes.

You are looking for a blue rectangle plug, otherwise these colours near the radio:

Battery - White/red (10amp Fused)
Acc - Blue/black (7.5amp Fused)
Earth - White/black
LH Speaker - Black/white and White
RH Speaker - Black/red and Red
