I finally had a look under my levin,
Has a hilux diff, old koni shocks front and rear with king springs
Stock rear suspension arms... and castor..
i am setting up the car for track and street
so i thought of just doing the bushes for the front end..
and buying those adj suspension arms for the rear and that panrod ?
then saving up for decent coilovers..
is there anything else im leaving out?
the rear diff has disk breaks and braided lines
cheers,
Star.
Edit: Also sorry what is the original size tyre for the ae86? because i noticed on my car is 195/60/15's.
Should i put a slightly wider tyre on the rear? and keep the fronts 195 or a 205?

What you need? Nothing.
If nothing is blown, flogged out or leaking drive the car and see how it feels and then decide if and what you want to upgrade. It is easy to spend lots on all sorts of bling, though essentially useless stuff because the internet says you need it.

i think hen was referring to the shocks being blown, i.e now not working properly, all the things you listed wouldn't affect handling at all.
what do you want more of, you want it to have less body roll?is it already to stiff for daily driving, saying, i wan't a car setup for track isn't always so easy to answer

everything looks so old on it that you couldnt tell if its blown or not lol
but i think its a quite soft.. you know those type of shocks you put on when u want feel the road alittle more compared to stock?
so ill be upgrading it shortly.. to something alot more aggressive.. those new advan coilovers look hot!
Dylan love you long time!

unless you want to sacrifice everyday comfort, though with the right money spent and know how, you can make both quite good, well my sayin kinda fails ey

if you want somethin in the middle try 6kg up front with 4kg up rear, if you want something a little more track orientated have 8/6's then dampers whatever you can afford, bilsteins, kyb agx are both quite good quality dampers, thyough out of most peoples price range

thanks shift rook! :D
i thought 8/6 was too much for the little hachi ?
if not that then thats interesting my old silvia used to have 10/8s lol
im also thinking of running 235 rear with 205 or a 195 front? is that abit stupid? lolor just stick with 195 all around?
as i plan on sticking with federal tyres so i was hoping for a 235 rear in a evo or RSR and 205 or 195 tyre fronts

so 8/6's would be pretty similar then, if it's for circuit work i sunppose the wider the better man, if you can fit a 235 go for it. pm me if you need any assistance

Save up for some tools and a tube of silicone. Remove part. Clean. Refit with silicone, or buy a new seal. Fix the leaks one by one.
Inspect suspension rubber bushes. Replace one by one with polyuranthane. (Or metal rod ends if you are brave).

what this guy says....
adjustable arms, be it say bars or trailing/LCA are awesom but you migh not need them right away.
start with driving the car as is, and see what you need....
if it feels off, get a 2nd opinion by someone who does knwo what they are talkin about (either someone with a built/setup car, or someone with suspension knowledge).
sway bars, springs, shocks are your 1st point of call though.

Like what I did. Ahaha. Lame, I know.
I had heaps of money left over from going over seas, so I bought just about every thing Dave sells... And then got him to come up and help fit it....

So i took it for along drive
then
stripped out the interior, no seats, carpet just dash and rear sides trims
waiting for deadner to be removed on monday
i think i must just get a proper wheel allignment, new tyres and try the drive thing again..
atm gonna fit up bride bucket seat and recaro passenger. .with a vertex 10star 330mm dish wheel with a decent boss kit or a rapid release that i can fit the horn too
i noticed the engine felt like it got nothing at 6500
so meh i dunno..
anyone have tha willwood dynalite brake kit?

id leave the swaybars as standard for a grip orentated car. 8/6 is too stiff without semi slicks. i used 6/4.5 and that was perfect for all round street drift and grip. this with good shocks and some fresh brakes and the car was completely transformed. dont skimp with shocks. yes they are expensive (for good ones) but worth it.
springs, shocks, bushes and camber tops for the front.

for brakes? what do u suggest does Project mu make pads for the stock callipers?

edit: read 1st post again.
with the stock front struts corona struts will upgrade the brakes and the shock and springs can be transfered onto them. or you can buy some bolt on upgrades to rx7 calipers, some slotted rotors and new pads, or completely swap to s13 front end. many options all with their own pro's/con's.
in the rear try some new pads, give the drum housings a sand/machine and maybe even some new drum cyclinders. a brake bleed wouldnt hurt either.
im a big fan of sway bars, but everyone is different, see if you can get a drive in a friends car or something to see how a different cars handles. otherwise thry things out and see what suites you.
