Hey guys, ive killed a few motors and so have most my mates, its always good to hear a good yarn like "i was givin her 10,000rpm and she let go"

post ur pics of ur dead motor and a story of its death...

i reckon there will be more nissans and everything other than toyota motors to fill the motor obituary

ive got a list but no pics at the moment coz im at my mates house but here's my list... (ill post pics soon)

R.I.P.-3K ke30- bush basher died in battle. too much valve bouncing and old oil
put a leg out of bed, push started her and drove it home still...

R.I.P.-rb30 r31- 350,000k's(odometer stopped working then) Turbo'd n/a with ice coffee oil(head gasket?) 16psi(1st turbo deceased) then 10psi(2nd turbo also deceased) went out with dead turbo and layed tread for a while, then she was knocking on heavens door so i (no) boosted home at 6000rpm followed by a large cloud of white smoke... eventualy spat a conrod 300mtrs away from my house, pushed it the rest of the way... went back and collected a couple of kilos of scrap (for the autopsy)

Haha i did exactly what you did except a CA20. Bought the car the same week i blew it up. Just spent the whole week thinking that it could handle the same thrashing I gave my 4k, high rev clutch dumps etc. Then it started rattling on the M1. Turned around home and about 1/2 home threw the rod and a nice chunk of the block. Hahaha piece of shit engine it was.

ae101 4agze - big end bearing SLAP SLAP SLAP
believe it or not it was still driving perfectly with no power loss/strange behaviour.
took it apart and noticed the bearing on no.3 was almost paper thin.

also pretty much fuxored a bigport 4age - ae82 twincam, first car, redline at least 5 times per day, need i say more. cars still kicking about somewhere though.

i actually killed a 4ac. turns out you shouldnt drive them like smallport 4ages. after i pulled it out of ae86, me and my mate decided to pull it apart. as we pulled the sump off, chunks of metal just fell out...

cooked a fabulous 4ac from overheating the bastard after driving for 30 plus kms without coolant. It cooked the rings and and lost all compression, im surprised it lasted so long after it cooked the smell was horrible smelt like a mixture of burning diff oil and ass at the same time.

So you're paying out nissan motors when you had an rb30e with 350,000+kms, a blown headgaskett, dirt for oil, that outlived 2 turbos both with too much boost for the motor to handle blow up...

I'm surprised it lasted that long at all! Thing must be damn near bulletproof!

thats the thing with RB30E's... some are just magic motors that must get blueprinted before being fitted, and others shit themselves if you look at them funny.

no 2 are ever the same, and you never know what you get until you lean on it a bit...

4AGZE - Snapped the crankshaft while driving quietly (ok, the exhaust was never quiet, let's say nicely) at 100 on a highway. Just behind the timing pulley. Very suprised it decided to go then and not when being abused.

Big end Bearing in my first ZE (AE92 Spec no oil squirters). made a slight knock. stopped. thaought it was a ping. drove the rest of the night. then on the way home after some "brisk" driving. BANG BANG BANG Clunk clunk...... towed it home, been off the road ever since. (well, no rego and no daily driving) that was March 2005

only engine i've blown is a hyundai 1.5.
In auto we had to rebuild an engine that had slipped a big end, we kept the same big end bearings in for a laugh and soon enough on the dyno it started slipping.
no matter how much we revved the shit out o fit so we chucked some soft drink in the oil.
It threw a end car out the side of the block within 10 seconds. a mashed up condrod was lying in the bottom of the sump.

Lasted a lot longer than expected that's for sure

letsgohunting: I'm not trying to pay out nissans, I just know toyotas are damn strong :) the first turbo I ran was sitting in my mates backyard and was seized, we used multigrips to free it up haha, it lasted a day Lol. And the next turbo was an r34 turbo I scored for $80 and once again it only lasted a day :( we made a custom dump pipe with a screamer for a laugh but I think it was keeping alot Of heat and with such lean fuel mixs it was cookin my poor ceramic turbos lol

Ha I killed a 2s in my rally basher corona.

Tried to go through a huge mud hole twice (got towed out and thought I'll make it with more speed :D) and got mud all over the front end. Caked solid on the aircon radiator and blocked all airflow through the radiator. Couldn't be bothered to clean it out so kept driving and it ground to a halt as it overheated.

Got a mate to tow me back and 1km into the tow I thought why not try to drop the clutch and see what happens and what do you know it fired back to life. Unhooked tow rope and off I went for another few km's before locked up again due to heat. Towed again and then clutched it into gear and back to life.

I managed to do this for about 10 times all the way back from the forrest to my mates place. It got progressively worse and worse but it was still running when I got back so into neutral it went and down went my right foot. 2 minutes and a lot of smoke later a rod decided to escape the confines of the block.

What a motor!!!

haha toyota's: tough as nails.

I had a 4x4 rodeo that I never managed to kill but I did get told by the cops never to drive it again. Through the local bush track 4 ppl equipped with full face helmets going kamikaze sideways into trees. Went back through the track in another car and found my engine mount :-)

21r-c in my first celica, over heated and blew hg on a mountain run, towed home, decided to try starting it. started, drove it to work a couple times, even dared a maccas run. wasnt fully dead so we put mr sheen, bbq sauce, napisan and water in the oil, sat it at 7k for 15 mins..... still kicked over the next day, pulled coolant out of it and did the same thing. still ran after 10 mins so i gave up, put a ball bearing down the carb, heard some crazy valve smashing, still ran and idled (on 3 cylinders) finnaly decided to put it out of its misery, dumped the oil, reved it to 4k (all it would do) after 30 secnds or so just stopped. funny thing is, it still turned over just wouldnt start cos the battery was flat lol.

nice work :-) I'm glad I've never destroyed an expensive motor :-p most expensive thing I've done is a bent valve on an rb20det

My smallport in my ae93 did the exact same thing except lasted for a month of daily driving. this is while still taking it to 170 on the way home etc eg trying to kill it. when i decomissioned it, it still would start, but not much else
