Hey guys,

I was just out in the 71 and noticed (Im a tad tired, so it was a late notice) the temp gauge nearly flush with the last line before the red zone.
Now heres some quick notes:
-Didnt overheat or even get unusually hot on the way home from work about 7 hours ago, when the temp was probably 5-10 degrees hotter.
- I just popped the bonnet to suss it out, and both top and bottom rad hoses were really hot, but the rad cap was only warm and the top of the radiator was even less warm.
- i found a very slow drip from beneath the water pump the other day, was planning on fixing this w/e as i only thought it was the gasket...

BUT, im now thinking the problem is the water pump is shagged, as they have a tendency to leak when the pump fails yeh?

Am i on the right track here?

-Also, this may be unrelated, but lets say lately when sitting on idle, 75% of the time it feels like the engine is missing, as in only three outta four are firing, but this may be unrelated and i thought i might as well mention it.

Need a fix asap if possible, i have a WTB ad for a 4ac that must be running for a swap over incase i cant fix this as its my daily for a full time job.

Any help is appreciated, cheers.

Will.

sounds like low coolant to me

yep agreed.....sounds like the pump has been leaking for a while and coolant level has got low.....thus the top of the rad doesnt actually have any coolant flowing through it

could also be a blown head gasket if its overheating and is missing.

yes water pumps leak when they are stuffed.

Ah ok, I usuaully check the coolant around daily/second daily, so maybe it's started to leak faster and the level dropped a fair amount during the day yesterday.

Also ae71, I had a suspicion it could have been a blown headgasket but haven't noticed any oil in the water or vice versa yet, or any smokeyness from the zorst, but I still wouldn't rule it out...

Thanks guys I'll see where this leads me.

And the results are in, went to do a comp test today and when I turned it over water started squirting out of number 2 lol.

So I'm gonna start changing the head gasket this weekend and send the head off for a reco
