Hi guys ive been on the forums for a while and i finally have the money to buy an 86 atm all i have been able to find is an adm one i was wondering what i need to convert the front end to a jdm levin or the one with the letter box front. Also has anyone tried using the pop up lights from a celica 162 as they appear to be the same shape and i have one for parts in my drive way. what are the differences between the adm 86 and the jdm ones any way. sorry if i seem a bit dim witted on the subject i just havnt really had a need to look into it until now.

Trim, lights, panels, drivetrain, electrics, pretty much a whole car.

You're much better off waiting to get yourself a proper jdm car, especially if you want a trueno. They come up In the for sale section and on carsales etc pretty often, just keep an eye out

Oh, and don't attempt the celica light conversion, it will look shite and isn't worth the messing around.

yes wait for a jdm tureno/levin to pop up . alittle more money but in the end less hassle.

sorry about the confusion i was only looking to do the exterior of the car as a Sprinter Trueno as i like the pop up lights and have wanted to own one since i was 8. i basically want to change the exterior over to look the same and i have no intention in selling the car. im happy with having a 4ac in it as i wont be drifting or racing in this one. its basically for me to have the satisfaction in owning an 86 and have something sexy to look at as i walk to my daily drive.

in the case of a full trueno conversion you can pick up full kits from 1500-2k, and it's pretty mch just nuts and bolts, a wee bit of wiring, but still, to get everything same colour havbe it alllooking tidy you're better off saving a couple more k buyina proper jap trueno, better brakes, neater interior, more fuel efficient engine with more balls. do iiiiiiit

sounds like takumi specness is what your after?

the ae86 is more of a driving car in my mind then a cool looking crusing/posing car...

can always pick em... the just dont look right for some reason..
dont do it, you crash it - its all over.. do the conversion once you stop hitting things

agian. save the molla and just buy one . if it takumi spec you want then why waste time and effort doing a convo . when you can spend it posing .:hehe:

think about this . you say you want to keep it for a long to time and have no intentions to sell it . and want to do a tureno front .

5k - for a super clean 4ac adm rust free sprinter - if your lucky . or 2k for a adm sprinter with rust . and then another 1-2k fixing the rust and getting it road worthy.
2k- trueno front
250- auto elec for wireing to get it right .
5k- panda full respray to get it just right

thats like 12k when you could of just bought a factory jdm tureno that works.

so you want a trueno front cause they look cool...Yes they do
so you happen to do the conversion and get all happy and excited and then get all the street credit and then someone slightly nicks you at the front and cracks ur trueno indicators and damages the head light... good luck finding 2nd hand ones that are affordable and not over priced...

im going to be blunt...as you know nothing of a AE86, im asumming you wont even know where to start shopping for trueno parts...so im going to help you

1. wait until someone on these type of forums sells it
2. yahoo auctions japan
3. buy a trueno
4. buy a AE86 first for god sakes..

how can you say you want this and that when you dont even have it to begin with...
everyone likes trueno, but they stick with the Levin style when they get there first AE86 cause they look just as good...just owning a AE86 that works is legendary...
