some are meant to be blocked
and 1500 sounds a little high for me(unless you had a HUGE cam)

dont have a huge cam engine is stock so any ideas why it would be so high?

it probably has an air leak after the throttle body, that or the idle screw needs to be adjusted
but those lines that are blocked are cold start idle up, they always get blocked off when 4age conversions are done, you dont have to have them connected.
i would block that pipe that is supposed to be connected to the PCV properly......electrical tape isnt ideal

that hose is connected to my oil catch can lol

2nd March 2010, 08:42 PM
the hose coming off the plenum, by the looks, its just taped up and hanging next to the rocker cover

i just rechecked just now and u are correct it is no connected and just taped up :S

what is a pvc and were is it located?
Dylan
2nd March 2010, 09:10 PM
The PCV is located inside the manifold on the 4age, If you plug that hose with the tape on it with a bolt does it fix the high idle?. Get a can of carby cleaner, wd40, crc, etc and spray around any suspect areas and see it the engine rpm changes

well pvc is the stuff that they make drain pipes with.
a PCV is positive crankcase ventilation, and its in the plenum which that hose goes into. its part of the emissions system.

where does that pvc hose need to run too though (i am curious myself)

hmmm this is getting interesting by the momment lots of answers and good stuff that people can follow because i know alot of people that got the same problem.

and dylan i will give it a go tomoz after work and see if it does change
but i do notice when i pull off the blocked one that has 3 nipples my reeves drop a fair bit could that be a solution too?

it runs from the PCV on the plenum to the rocker cover....you can see how the hose is sitting right next to where its supposed to be fitted.
but now the catch can has been fitted, the hose has just been taped up

hmm i was told by mates that were usually the catch can is taped into could tat be a cause why the idle is so high?
lolwat
2nd March 2010, 09:36 PM
no 100% but i think there is another point your catch can, can tap into on the other rocker cover
I WAS WRONG!!!!!!:shout:

ok, see the lower red arrow, you have to make sure that port is blocked up, i think i can see that it is, but just make sure.
see the top red arrow pointing down. if you look in that hole, there is a flat head screw, turn this screw CLOCKWISE and see if the idle drops down, if it does, just adjust it to suit, and you are done.

Try the vacuum line that is joining the two ports on the top of the throttle body pretty sure they should be blocked individally not linked together, some people leave it how yours is but they push a ball bearing into the line to block it off so it cant leak between the two.
Also check your water lines are hooked up from the metal lines on the side of the block near the water pump to the bottom of the throttle body, this controlls cold air bleed and should drop the idle by around 500 rpm when it warms up.

i agree with the line on the top of the throttle body, crimp or block it and check if it makes a difference

Hey mate i had the same problem when i brought my ke70 with a 4age conversion. The cold start fails and lets to much air past the butterfly and causes high idle because mine is a track car i didnt worry about keeping the cold start. a way to check this is when the car is warm block the hole for the cold start in the throttle body with your finger ,if the cold start is stuck open when you block it the revs with drop or even stall.
block the large hole at the bottom

cold start removed and plated over

hey guys been a while i haven't posted i removed the oil catch can and put the proper vacuum line to the rocker. Also i am blocking each vacuum line by buying proper vacuum caps i have tried tat screw on the top on the throttle and it wont drop down keeps on raising so i wouldn't think that is it.
next i will be trying is to block the hole in the throttle as jman_ke70 has explained and hope that does drop my idle down and will check the water lines would anyone have a diagram of how the waterlines are meant to be ?
cheers slighten

i just did a tester of making up some vacuum lines and blocking them with a bolt on the top 2 on the throttle and got some real good progress
at idle i am getting 1000 rpm once reeved and driven around the block i got 1300 rpm.
but once i turn the car on and off it will stay at 1000 reeves.

try some carby cleaner in the throttle butterfly. It sounds like its getting a bit sticky.

shall do thanks for that.

Good idea from biggo, prob pay to check the throttle cables not too tight while your there.

i already adjusted the throttle cable so i would think the carby cleaner idea may work out .
