greetings folks,
currently putting together an 86 front end for my ke70.
currrently it is standard control arms, jap brakes, coilovers consisting of ae92 shocks (332mm).
so ive come to the point where i need to get some RCA's.
ive found some 40mm ones to buy, but i see a bit of a range in sizes from 25-50+mm.
sooooo....how do i know what size to get?
my limited understanding is, the RCA should be the same length as the amount of tube that was cut off to suit the short stroke shocks. is this correct?
cheers for any suggestions

yeah thats generally how it works, but generally limited by your wheel size etc.
Also depends on how low you run it.
25mm is too small for most ae/kes

Just buy some 40mm rca's and get them machined down to the size you want. I needed only 25mm so i did this

interesting...
so i bought some 40mm ones just cause they were cheap so we shall see how they go..
i dug this up though from the tech article
Front Insert Dimensions:
AE86
Body length: 402mm
Extended length: 604mm
Extended minus Body: 202mm
Outside Diameter: 43.5mm
AE92:
Body length: 336mm
Extended length: 500mm
Extended minus Body: 164mm
Outside Diameter: 43.5mm
so from that i have cut off (402-336) = 66mm
so i should really have a 66mm RCA to get the LCA back into its stock position.
i assume that i would need an 18" wheel in order for this to be a viable option.
also this is assuming that stock position is the position of least bump steer, i assume toyota got it right.
though this has not taken into account shock extensions, i think i might get keen and do this up in CAD...

Whatever you need to get the LCA pointing slightly downwards. Doubt that many people would be able to get that with struts that have been shortened though....

the length of your rca should technically be how much you have lowered your car from stock to retain the orignal LCA angle/position.
really on a ke you want it as big as you can fit under your wheels.
seems that i need around 150mm rca's so i guess ill be rolling on 20's ;)

+1 on both the above.
Run the biggest you can get a hold of. (40 - 45mm)
