help urgent!! cooling system

hey guys my car seems to spit a lil coolant out of somewhere so i changed the radiator cap this arvo and got home just before to find alot of water in the engine bay over the coolant overflow side. can or has anyone else had problems like this? could it be pressurising the overflow bottle and spurting it everywhere? is there supposed to be a seal on the cap of the overflow bottle?

Its a cooling system. water heats up, creates pressure, vents thru the recovery style radiator cap into the overflow bottle. When it cools down it sucks it back in.

Biggo things you overfilled your overflow tank.

yeh i hadnt checked it in a while but i know never to fill it right up it has a mark on it. but could it be that im using a different radiator/enigne to what the overflow bottle is from? threfore dumping too much into it?

If its not over heating leave overnight and check water levels in the morning.

If all is ok, i would then go have a beer.
