Hey People,

Just interested in who your insurance cover is with and what your currently insured for, particularly for JDM Sprinters........ I’m struggling to find an insurer who will cover me for more than $9000.....

I believe mine would be one of the better sprinters in Australia and the car owes me over 20k. I used to work in insurance so I understand red book values and market depreciation but the problem seems to be more about the awareness/knowledge of the car itself.......

cheers
Roland

I've been looking about for insurance for my '83 ADM Sprinter (4AGE, T-series LSD, etc) and the best agreed value quote I've had is for $4500 for about $340 per annum. Not sure if vendor verdict are ok here so I'll just say that this insurance company "insures you for how you drive your car".

good question, i was going to ask this @ some time.. so the price your going to pay for insurance per annum depends on your cars value.. and the less mods the cheaper ?

Correct. Obviously the higher value and the more mods will increase your premium. However the fact that sprinters are 2 door, regardless if its a 4ac or twin cam, being two doors increases your premium regardless. From an insurance perspective, a two door car is concidered "sporty" so it is more expensive than a four door.
Age is also a HUGE factor in premiums. Its not until you reach at least 25 that ur insurance starts gettinging cheaper. im 27, no accidents or speeding fines in the last 5 years and my premiums vary between 700-1000 for full comp insurance.

Shannons, agreed at $7k, list of mods, premium ~$380, excess of $400, and further discounts for CAMS license. Modified ADM, but I'm over 30, no claims/incidents.

doesn't budgetdirect beat prices? also if your parents are with aami and no accidents/claims can't you get something special..
would it be worth putting under my dads name and me as dedicated driver?

the only place that i found that would insure a personally imported car was just car. never had a issue with them, price was good too.

mods made no difference to premium just they had to be all listed and "legal"

when i was trying to renew the insurance on the kesev once, i tried AAMI for a quote. i ticked the box that said non genuine alloy wheels, floor mats and maybe lowered/raised suspension or non genuine radio and the car was 'too modified' mega fail.
