Just go to wreckers and take a pair of XT130 struts/brakes? Will all bolt in hassle free and probably be cheaper and less work than trying to source new or used AE86 hubs. The twin piston brakes do stop quite well too.

are you saying xt130 hubs fit ae86 struts?

Noooo. They don't.

Meant, fuck the AE86 struts off and use XT130 front end instead, so brakes, hubs struts etc. Would be probably easier and cheaper to do that than try source more AE86 hubs for your current struts.

not giving up my coilovers
anyway xt130 throws out the front end

does it just give an extra 0.5mm positive camber and that's it?

they're also heaps heavier, i should do a comparison, the way it mounts to the steering arm suggsts it'd probably put the geom out by a little too

Sam I too was under the impression that a small camber gain was the only 'problem' with XT130 struts. But they also seem to increase track more than stock items. Hub width I'd imagine. Though, I am fairly certain that it is RT/ST struts that have some sort of ridiculous stub axle angle which is NO good for a Corolla.

Shifty, if you have both types of struts laying around, a weight comparison would be pretty interesting. Do them both bare, then with hub assemblies attached. I know that the Corona strut has a larger stub axle so bare it might be a fraction heavier, but I think most extra extra weight would be from the hub and brakes, being that they are ~1" larger and with bigger calipers.

length shouldn't matter when cutting them up into coilovers if thats your thing, otherwise it might be a problem.
but yeah, as said above the stub axle angle is most likely different, but by how much nobody knows.
perhaps someone who has both available could do a little comparison for us?

XT130 into AE86/KE70/just about every early toyota is covered in detail on toymods, have a squiz, look for a thread by a guy called "takai" its the bible to brake/suspension upgrade-age
