Its all in the title.

I am bolting a 20v bottom end to a bigport 16 head.

And, after a bit of a read, the studs ARE different, but how?

i.e. which ones should i bloody order! haha

cheers guys

a 16v uses 5 short and 5 long bolts,

a 20V uses 10 of the longer bolts

Mint. is it the head or the block that determines the bolt lenths?

i.e. do half thread further into the block on a 16v, or is it because of the head design that 5 need to stick out further?

:) cheers as always sam!

it's the head that does, apparently it's is possible to get the 20V kit now, however if you can't I can give the part numbers for each individual component needed for the 20V head.

whoa, nah you need the 20V head with the 20V head, it's the head that determines it, that part of all the A blocks are identical. Find out if they sell the 20V kit now and post back here. I will give you those part numbers should you need it

yeah confused me too. mostly because you bolt the head to the bottom end and not the other way around

If you want ARP Bolts, Road and Track has 20V kits as well as the common 16V kit. Paid $240 for my 20V kit delivered, 16V is a similar price.

Are there any other cheaper bolts lol?

I'm barely paying 240 for all the rest of the rebuild parts for fucks sake!

What about genuine Toyota bolts?
I use std Toyota ones in my 440hp 7AGTE. But only use them once and throw them away.
But I only pay about $22 for a set so I can.

I agree with the above well the first part anyway. I thought it was proven Toyota bolts are not torque to yeild which means they can be reused

There is a measurement in the manual to measuer the length of them and if they are not stretched they can be re-used,
but at that price a set and that I dont strip my motor that often, i choose not to.

fair enough, you do get a lot of uses out of them though.
