Good news and bad news...well all bad news.
The car has been found, and the car is totally fucked.
After calling up the police today around midday to file a stolen car report, They told me they'd send somebody around or call me up to get a detailed report. I then called up the insurance agency and made a claim informing them that the car was missing ect....
So I kill some time by watching dexter and at 4 oclock I get a call from a Bendigo Police officer who sounded pretty stern with me on the phone, by this stage was just thankfull I had insurance and I'm not the type of person to get worked up about things, I mean it had happened and there was nothing I could do.....so when he called up I did sound pretty relaxed, he informed me that I had to come into the police office to get a statement, I kinda laughed and made a joke about it would be hard as I didn't have a car, He said it was a serious matter, I told him if there was a spare work van out the back I'd come down. Sure enough the spare set of keys were in the kitchen and I headed down to the police station.
As I'm lead into a room the guy gets my details and asks what time the accident was....accident?? WHAT? he repeated the question, I told him that the car had been reported stolen. He then realised why I was so calm on the phone. He and the rest of the guys at the police station thought I was the driver!, After finding out I had called up about a stolen car they showed me photos and man was it grim...A4 sized photos of my not so beautiful "red bear"...I was shattered, my heart had sank and my tounge unleashed like a sailor.... I better not go into the details about what the cop said had happened as they are going to be dusting for prints and opening a case.
So basically the car has been found, albeit with less of a booty than I had left it, the front looks fine however. Definitely looked like a write off from the pictures.
Anyway thanks for the support, I think I'm going to go cry over the good times myself and the red bear had together.

Well that sums it up. Nothing from within the car was stolen, all the tools ect were all still there.
It will get assessed Wednesday, I have no doubt it will be a write off, Thank God for insurance. Will let you all know how that pans out.

all you need to do in a keto, is get a long pad lock, slip some tube over it so it doesnt scratch paint, wind your windows down 5mm, and slip it through the drivers and rear doors on both sides, and get a quick release steering wheel, take your wheel with you. If they break the window they cant get in, cant bend the top of the door back, cant break the door lock to get in, take em a fuck load longer to get the padlock off, and if they do, what are they going to do, get a hacksaw and take some of my roll cage?

in the case of something like your car, they wouldnt do shit, they'd just rock up with a flatbed trailer. but for your average-joe's car, then yeah

Spoke to the Police, nobody was admitted to the hospital and there were no prints.
The plan is to buy it back from the insurance agency for a good price and part out some of the gear that I won't use as the front panels are fine, as is the interior. Maybe transfer it all into a ke70 shell as I know of a fair few around here. I'll see how the insurance assesment goes on Wednesday.

Just got off the phone from the assessor at AAMI, he said the car is only worth $1000. WTF! I explained to him you can't even buy a stock ADM sprinter for under $2.5k, Did you realise there is a cult following behind these cars? This had the 4age engine conversion, sorted suspension, 2 way TRD LSD, Upgraded front breaks, Discs rears...and more. He said he'd refer it to Just Cars. I hope they realise what it's worth as the guy I was originally speaking to on the phone new what car it was and even commented on how good a car they are.
Will have to wait and see.

Private Price Guide $2,000 - $4,600
from redbook.com.au.
who is the insurer youre dealing with?
as long as youre confident the mods are all legit/legal. then you should get the upper end of that scale. you should probably just push the "same spec as an import" line.

Sorry for crashing your thread but if you are persistent with your insurance company they will end up giving you more money. They always offer a low price on the chance you are silly enough to accept it. They will also drag it out for as long as they can. Don't take their first offer. My friend had his car stolen years ago and was with AAMI and they offered $1,500 and he ended up getting $4,500. I've also had one through a different insurer and been offered $800 and ended up with $3,200. (took 3 months and heaps of phone calls though).
So now my tail of woe.
Just on the off chance that anyone saw my ute floating around Bendigo last night.
Stolen somewhere between 1030pm and 7am this morning from near the hospital.
Had bugger all fuel and hardly a joy to drive so I don't think it would be joy riders more likely a lazy drunk.

When my sprinter was written off after a truck cleaned me up the insurance company offered me $1500... I told them that wasnt enough and faxed them the values out of the unique cars magazine value guide (there is a new one out at the moment) I ended up with $6000 and kept the wreck.
Sorry to hear about your car mate..
Hope this helps.
